Apartamento Gois

Fantastic view over the area and to the ocean. Very easy to get in town even on foot (15 min with the relatively steep stairs or 25-30 min around the cliffs). There are two bus stops just outside the apartment complex. The owner is really helpful, showed us around, where to find the nearest supermarket, important points around town, etc.!

The late night/early morning airplanes were a bit of a disaster after a tiring day, but we know what we signed up for. The bed could be a little bit more stiff and comfortable, but otherwise everything was as expected.

The address on google maps is incorrect. The bed sheets were smelly like someone else have already slept on these.

The one thing I want to highlight is the kindness of the host. He took us to the airport by himself at 3 am in the morning without any extra fee. What's more, if it wasn't for him and his willingness to wake us up after sleeping through our alarm clocks, we would have missed our flight. Also, the view from the apartment is beautiful and it is easily reachable both by car and bus.

There were a couple of things missing in the kitchen (like a chopping board), but for a short stay, it was alright. The building does not look very modern from the outside but the interior looks like in the pictures. The departing airplanes get quite noisy but there are only a few per day and none during the night.

This property is a unit in a former resort that was sold off as individual apartments, they are partly used by their residents and partly rented out to guests. Our host turned his unit in a real marvel, the pictures show the reality. The property is best used with a car since it has ample parking and public transport is kilometres away. But due to the proximity to the airport we had no problem to call a Bolt or Über any time of the day. And our host was something kind to drive us to the airport. All in all we enjoyed our time and there was nothing to complain about..

The structure itself is not exactly an architectural marvel.

We really liked our stay here, good value for the money we paid. In the apartament we found everything we needed, there was even a coffee machine which was a big plus! It's better to have a car here because there is a path nearby which leads down to the beach but using it felt more like a hike so more pleasant way was just driving for few minutes ;) The owner offered us help with renting a car in a really good price; he met us to give us keys and told us a bit about the apartament and complex in which it is located.There's beautiful viewpoint next to apartament, the view of Machico from above was amazing, especially when it got dark. Plenty space for parking car in front of the building. The closenest of the airport was not a problem for us as there were no flights at night so we even slept with windows open - but if you have light sleep I'd recommend you taking earplugs, as almost every night we heard dogs barking for few minutes straight around 11pm and a rooster at dawn ;) The animals were more annoying than planes, it'd be nice if there was an air condition here so that you could sleep with windows closed. To sum up - really nice apartament in good location if you have a car.
