very dark. kitchen needs updating. maybe a t towel. Shower curtain needs to be thrown away, it just sticks to your back, not needed.

The property was in such a perfect location, right near the water and was a beautiful home.

Everything was perfect, you just need to be careful when showering as if you’re not careful it can flood. Other than that it was great.

The owner is nice and kind. He was very helpful with carrying my suitcase up the stair. The place is acceptable in that it has the sufficient necessities for a place to sleep and relax on Kastellorizo (beds, toilet and shower, electricity, internet, and airconditioning). Most windows are double-pane and they all have mosquito nets, which are magnetic so they are sure to stay closed even if the window is open. The airconditioning seems to work. It is also about the only thing in the apartment that’s modern. The pictures on Booking seem to do a good job of reflecting the state of the apartment. You should not expect the place to be considered “modern”. However things are mostly in working order (except for what I’ve outlined below). The location is fine. The harbour is close by, however this is not something exceptional on Kastellorizo as the whole (and only) town is situated around the bay-shaped harbour. However, it is located just far enough away from the harbour that you’re not disturbed by the noise from the people and the restaurants in this area of the town.

Windows and the kitchen are simply dusty. There are stains on the walls (a couple of big ones and some smaller ones from mosquitoes being smacked probably). Many things show significant age: the kettle has a lot of scale, the furnace has some rust on it, the shower holder is turning green from the rust, the lights in the bathroom are still old-style fluorescent bulbs and some of the wall sockets are dirty. The bathroom is extremely outdated and badly maintained. The shower head sprays water in many directions other than down and the holder is weak and can barely hold the head steady. When you turn off the water the shower head might simply fall down. The shower is really too small. It’s difficult not to splash water all over the place (I managed not to, but my travelling mate did not). In order to not get the whole floor of the bathroom wet when showering it is necessary to keep the shower curtain inside the shower, which reduces the amount of space that you have to shower even more and the curtain keeps clinging to you, which is more uncomfortable than anything else. The shower drain was clogged. So if the water pressure was high (if you like to shower with high water pressure) you will stand in a couple of centimetres of water and it will eventually spill out onto the bathroom floor. The hairdryer is old, has yellowed from age and is broken. Hot air comes out of the handle, which makes it very uncomfortable to hold it while drying your hair (which also takes long because it is very weak) There is only one airco unit in the apartment, which means that whoever is unlucky enough to sleep in the other room won’t have airconditioning. However, it is possible to leave the door open between the rooms, but I fear that the airconditioning unit will be unable to cool down the whole apartment. The WiFi is very slow and not acceptable for 2022. It was not possible for one person to watch YouTube or Netflix without the video buffering multiple times throughout.
