Astwell Mill Luxury Shepherds Hut

Absolutely fell in love with this place and could have stayed a lot longer. Was perfect for what I wanted, then when we arrived it completely exceeded our expectations. Hosts were extremely warm, welcoming and very helpful.

I cannot put into words how amazing the place was. So cosy and beautiful veiws from the hut. The owners were away but we had no problems contacting them. We had some lovely chats with the owners mother, a very inviting pleasant lady!! No doubt we will be returning. Thank you.

Nice location

When I arrived they knew nothing about it even though booking through booking.com. I had to leave and was instructed to come back later so literally had to park up the road for an hour. Parking is very difficult as the entrance is narrow with A very "tricky to park" drive and there is no where else to park. The hut itself is in a nice location, but inside leaves a lot to be desired! The bedding literally smelt awful and I firmly believe that it hadn't been changed from the last occupant 🤮 So much so that I vacated after the second night having paid £450 for 4 nights. I politely informed them of my early vacation with no reasons given yet they didn't even bother to respond. Then there's a wood burner advertised in the cabin...but no firewood! I was promised 3 times that firewood would be provided and it never materialised. Cooking facilities are also very limited for the money, there's isn't even a hob! All in all a very odd atmosphere to the establishment to, i would not recommend to anyone.

Hosts were super friendly and helpful, responding to any questions I had. The location was beautiful and the hut itself cosy and warm. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was surprisingly spacious. This place does include free Wi-Fi and there is parking at their main place which is a 1 min walk away. I actually requested to stay another night and luckily, as it wasn't already booked, the hosts quickly approved my request.

A very minor niggle - a couple of the blinds were broken which meant I had to manually try to roll them up and down rather than by using the string.

We had a slight problem with our satnav which sent us up an uneven dirt track, however Cassie was on the other end of the phone to direct us with directions which was great, Mark met us at the hut and could not apologise enough for the satnav directions, he was very very welcoming and charming explained everything to us. That evening we contacted Cassie to enquire if the hut was available for an extra night as we loved it so much, unfortunately the hut was already booked the following night however Cassie did offer us a beautiful double room with ensuite in the house for the extra night which we were over the moon with and accepted. The setting was amazing, the views of the countryside just went on and on, and they told us we can walk anywhere on their land even among their sheep in the fields, We had beautiful weather which was a bonus and such a relaxing and happy stay. It did not end there Breakfast was absolutely yummy, a proper Fresh Farmers full English breakfast all locally sourced with free range eggs, with fresh continental as well, we would highly recommend these great hosts and B&B wish we could have stayed longer.
