"Great stay but could do with some improvement"

8.0

Roberto our host who met with us was absolutely wonderful. He was really helpful in providing recommendations and assisting us.

Very little utensils to use. No condiments of any sort, no washing liquid for washing machine, no milk, no teabags. Getting a bit tired and could benefit with some level of upgrade. No smart tv. No netflix.

Loved the terrace with all of the beautiful flowers.

The elevator felt a little risky.

"Authentic beautiful Salerno apartment overlooking the bay with amazing host!"

10.0

Stop looking, this is a hidden gem in the perfect location of Salerno. 15 -20 minutes walking distance of train station, a block away from main shopping street, 20 minute walk to ferry, blocks away from Bus stop. Salerno is 2 hours from Rome by train, one hour from Pompei by train, 40 minute ferry ride to Almafi city. It is the perfect property if you are looking to be with the locals and immersed in the culture. The graffitied square outside the building is part of the charm and has a market to grab some groceries, water etc. the local children are seen and heard playing in the evening. The host gives you a voucher that can be used at Rosas on the corner, where you can have a delicious breakfast pastry and drink and hang with the locals in the morning. The apartment has a balcony overlooking the bay where we enjoyed sitting in the sun and enjoying the view. Bed and pull out couch were comfortable, plenty of towels. The apartment is as pictured. The host, Patriczia was amazing, showed us where everything was, checked in on us and was available if we needed a quick question answered. We look forward to staying here again!

Great breakfast at the cafe at the end of the street, one minute away. Amazing location with waterfront views and views up into the hills to the castle from the lovely rooftop terrace.

"An excellent stay in an excellent location with an excellent host."

10.0

We loved the apartment penthouse overlooking the ocean, old town and the castle. The location was perfect with a supermarket right outside the door, a tailor where I had pants mended, a quick counter style restaurant, a bakery and the entrance to old town with its many wandering streets of shops and restaurants. There is a Michelin star restaurant just around the corner that we ate at one night. Breakfast at Cafe Rosa was awesome. Every morning we had an Italian pastry and coffee. Watching the local people come and go was fascinating. Afterwards we would catch the bus out the door to the ferry terminal or train station as we explored the area. The walls of glass allowed the apartment to be flooded with natural light. The kitchen was great to cook in and the bathroom had a picture window overlooking the sea. The deck was huge with comfortable furniture and was surrounded by plants and herbs that I used in cooking the many regional dishes we cooked. Patricia was awesome, she even got us free tickets to the opera along with giving us recommendations and was quick to attend to the few requests we had. Definitely 10 out of 10.

We were not impressed with Amalfi. Too crowded and touristy for our liking, even in mid-October, but liked the ferry ride along the coast from Salerno to Positano. Highly recommend going to Paestum instead to the Greek temples and we visited a water buffalo diary with a fabulous restaurtant. Avoid taxis as they are a total ripoff. 15€ for a 5 minute ride from the train station. 55€ for a taxi ride up to the castle and back - less then 5 km.
