City Escape Taroona

This city escape in Taroona is a new Hobart favourite; the roses were blooming in the garden (lucky me). The location is near the beach (an easy stroll down the road), and the city (around 15min drive), and the eateries of Sandy Bay are 10mins away by car. The allotment backs onto a reserve, which is used by walkers, and on the back patio it feels like you are surrounded by nature. The apartment is comprised of 2 separate spaces; the bedroom and bathroom, and the kitchen and dining area. The bedroom faces East, which means that you can wake with the sun. There are blinds on the big glass doors, so you can darken the space if you prefer. But for me I enjoyed the views of the beautiful garden. The spaces are all well-appointed and have comfortable modern furnishings. The bedroom is a generous size. The rooms are located under the main house, which has timber floors, so you may hear some footsteps above; this is only noticeable as the area is very quiet - I woke to the bird calls. The breakfast was a generous feast of fresh eggs from the chickens in the garden, and bread - you can cook the eggs up how you like on the cooktop. And there was a healthy oat and fruit breakfast bowl, along with cereal options, tea and coffee. There are at least three tables where you can have breakfast; I chose to sit outside on the patio. The linen and towels were of very high quality. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. This apartment would suit both short stay and long stay visits. It might also suit travellers hoping to see the Aurora Australis, as the beach has a Southerly view, and is only a short walk down the road. This apartment is on my list for my next visit to Hobart.

This did not affect my stay, but I noticed that in the shower, the cold and hot tap spindles are installed over the wrong outlet. That is the tap that has an 'H' mark is installed over the cold tap outlet, and similarly for the tap marked 'C'. This an easy fix however. Also, I found that the vanity cupboard in the bathroom is installed close to the toilet pan, so your left knee rests on the vanity cupboard.

Peter was very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was great- very fresh and plentiful. We particulalry enjoyed the eggs fresh from his hens! Peter also left us a bottle of wine and a birthday card as we were celebrating a birthday whilst there which was a generous extra touch! The location was great (although recommend hiring a car as it is remote compared to Hobart centre). Peter was great with communication and very helpful, even in advance of our stay. We were able to make good use of the washing/ drying facilities and the kitchenette. The place was clean and private. Thank you for a lovely stay!

It was gorgeous here, so relaxing and private. I managed to sleep in every morning except the day we were due to leave. Loved the little treats as host is a great chef.

Peter is a great host. Superb communication. Everything worked well. Walking distance to the beach and the cafe around the corner was excellent.

I loved the gardens and the unit was quite lovely with everything we needed. Breakfast was lovely too especially the home made slice and jam.

Kitchen and laundry were seperate to the unit, so we had to walk outside in the cold.
