Renaissance Key Apartment 29

The apartment is new, modern, spacious and well-located (it's a very short walk to both the train station and the Gate of Dawn, which takes you into the Old Town). The area felt very safe. There's a cute cafe right downstairs. It can be difficult to find a large modern unit with two bathrooms close to the Old Town, so we were happy to get this place. We had one issue upon arrival with the bedding, but the host was responsive and took care of it. The apartment is in a gated development that is home to professionals and young families. If you arrive by Bolt, Google Maps will take you to the back gate in the alley. The key code works at this entrance as well as the main entrance on Sodų gatvė. If you come in the back gate, you will not have to carry your suitcase up the outdoor patio stairs. Water pressure in the bathroom showers was excellent. (Be careful when you first turn on the shower to make sure the sprayer is pointed AWAY from your face!) The heated floor and heated towel racks in the bathrooms were much appreciated. Lighting was excellent throughout the unit. Beds were comfortable; firm mattresses but not too firm. Kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, glassware and pots. There was olive oil and salt in the cupboard, but you'll need to buy groceries. There are several grocery stores nearby, as well as the huge "turgus"/market just around the corner. Lots of closet space and hangers. Overall, we were very happy with this unit.

The development is new and well cared-for, but this unit has a not-great view. It faces a creepy old brick structure (a shed? garage?) and an embankment that seems to afford access to the property. That said, we did not experience any safety concerns. We simply kept the curtains drawn so we wouldn't have to look in that direction. Hopefully in warmer weather, the landlord will clean up the old leaves from the balconies and plant some flowers. Also, there is a washing machine in the unit but no dryer. This was not a problem for us, as we were not doing a lot of laundry, but it's something to be aware of.

Directions to the apartment - maybe use the cafe as a map point. The sign of the apartment block no longer exists and that led to confusion.

Great location. Great stay. Very quiet and lovely courtyard access. Rooms were great size. And facilities were excellent. Coffee shop in building.

Very warm in summer.
