The host is very sweet and responds quickly. We had not read the check in times and the host got it sorted out very fast with sending us instructions and leaving us the key so we could get inside. The flat was very comfortable and cozy, the AC was working and generally clean. It is a decent ride away from the city but a good option for a cheaper stay if you have a car. We parked our car right across the accommodation by the road.

I am very conflicted about this place because it was beautiful and all, but my most important factor when choosing an accommodation is cocroaches. If there is any information in reviews about roaches or bed bugs, I am not choosing that place. So for people like me, beware, THERE ARE COCROACHES living in the shower and under the bathroom cabinet. The shower door mechanism is not cleaned properly, and when we moved the shower door (which was a bit stuck, so my guess is that most people don't move them), the roaches started sprinting. I spent about 3 hours in the night washing them out of the door mechanism, washing away about 16 of them or more. A couple got away. And still after that, I could not get myself to go get showered. We arrived very late, so I texted the owner in the morning, he/she apologised and thanked for the information, said that the pest control had been there last week and that no other guests had complained after that. So this is an ongoing problem. I feel for the owner as I had delt with roaches before. But the hosts have to rip out the shower mechanism and change it to a simpler one and get the cabinet off the floor so no more place for the roaches to hide. Before they do that, they are not getting rid of them. The rest of the room was clean and cozy. Did not see roaches in the kitchen or anywhere else but the bathroom.

We rented two rooms here for just one night as we passed through, but it was wonderful. An unexpected highlight of our trip. Character doesn't even begin to describe it. This is a beautiful romantic location that would be perfect for a wedding. We got shades of Cinema Paradiso, and I felt we could stage a Romeo and Juliet on site, or the wooing of Othello and Desdemona. We have three young children and they also got wrapped up in the romance and adventure, and they played some sort of strange robbers and sheriff game (it was all very Alexandre Dumas). It helped that our hostess was extremely helpful, and flexible, and informative. And when we wandered out for dinner in the town to a place she recommended the people were so welcoming. I am now a supporter of Omonia Athenou!

There's a slightly rough around the edges feel to this, which is part of its charm. If you want spotless and soulless and generically cleansed, this won't be for you. If you want heart and soul and old stone that whispers romance in the night, this is for you. It was full of magic for us as a family of five, I can only imagine how romantic it might have been for young lovers.
