Barcsay Apartment

The area was perfect, with the tram stop basically right on the door step, with plenty of restaurants and stuff nearby also, the new York cafe is a two minute walk from the front door. There's a spar right across the road, lidl along the road a bit, everything you need is a stones throw away. The room itself was lovely, with everything you might need. The bed was comfy, the shower was good, the washing machine had an excellent quick wash that we used several times (Ryanair baggage allowance, you know? 😂). The kitchen had everything we needed, we ate breakfast "at home" most mornings, one day we had a dinner at home and we made plenty of snacks when we got home at night and had no issues with the facilities. We did have an issue with the air conditioning, couldn't for the life of me figure out how to make it work, then I did get it to work but have no idea how, but once it was working, it worked perfectly (the heating was still on when we arrived, but turned that right down as soon as we noticed). The room is in a sort of square building with a little concrete square in the middle so there was no street sounds or anything, a really quiet, peaceful little room. There were maybe a few tiny little niggles but you get that everywhere you go, and it didn't impact on the quality of our stay at all. Would definitely stay again.

We didn't use the couch much, we were hardly ever in, but when we did sit on it, it wasn't really comfy. I knew about the bed being up the stairs and everything - that's actually the number one reason I chose the room, it looks so fancy and quirky - but the stairs are a bit steep and the room we had had a rope bannister, but it didn't really seem that reliable, going up was fine, but coming down first thing in the morning, or worse during the night to nip to the loo was terrifying - mainly because I have mobility issues and I'm less flexible in the morning, and I definitely wouldn't mark the room down because of it, it's definitely a "me" problem, but it's something to think about if you aren't totally mobile. There was only one pillow and one towel each, there were also two teeny tiny sort of hand towels, and luckily by boyfriend is bald and I have really short hair, so we used one as a hand towel by the sink and the other for my hair, but another couple wouldn't have gone amiss. We also had to bring the big couch cushions up to use on the bed as the pillows were pretty flat and just not enough. The only other issue is the light up by the bed is blinding, so not ideal for getting up during the night, and you definitely do need a light to go down those stairs. Usually, we would use the light on one of our phones when one of us got up during the night.

What I liked most about the apartment was the location. It was quiet at night, and the bed was comfortable.

I didn’t like that there was nowhere to hang jackets or towels. The apartment smelled musty or damp, and it felt a bit cold. But, considering the price, maybe it’s acceptable. It’s just a basic apartment with the essentials, nothing more.

There was nothing we didn’t like! The location could barely have been better, food shops, bus stops, groceries, coffee - all right outside your door! Easy, yet, safe access, all comprehensible provided by a lovely, reliable host who even provided detergent tabs & a life-saving AC! 10/10! I come to Budapest every now and then and this has got to be one of my favourite stays so far & definitely worth its price! We were even “given” an additional cozy blanket & loved you for it! Again, there was nothing we didn’t like. The place was great, very much like in the pictures, clean, and tidy! The bed or pillows (rather flat) might not be for everyone but I personally slept incredibly well! This is perhaps just a friendly proposal (?): Thank you for the 2 big & small towels. Two additional medium towels for the hair could’ve made things easier but it also wasn't bad at all!:) Unfortunately, the TV did not work but that too, was not bad in any way - more time to talk!

Great self contained apartment, home from home, all utensils, pots, pans, kettle, toaster, microwave, 2 ring burner and clothes washing machine. Better than just a bed in a room as you'd get in a hotel for the same price.

Location was great, stores and public transport nearby. It was easy to get in with clear instructions. It was quite clean and had everything you need for a shorter stay. It was also quite affordable.

There was not a lot of airflow and the heater is very old. It looked kind of dangerous and to adjust the heat you had to open an iron panel which would be hot after a while. The windows also faced the hallways so you could hear every noice and some nights you could hear the ac's of other apartments whole night. The shower doesn't drain well and leaks sometimes under the glass panel into the bathroom floor.

Great location, able to walk to anywhere from the apartment but still a nice and peaceful apartment building. All the necessary amenities were provided and available and the apartment itself was really comfortable!

Would maybe be nice to have curtains/blind or something to cover the windows on the front door. This may just have been as I was travelling alone but I would have felt a little more comfortable if there was an option to cover those little windows at night.

Great apartment! It was clean and it was near city center!

I had a very pleasant experience in this apartment. It is extremely clean, and the amenities are excellent. I really appreciated having everything I needed for a comfortable stay: an iron, laundry capsules, a washing machine, a drying rack, a microwave – everything was within reach. I felt just like home! The only downside for me was that it was a bit cold, but I should mention that I’m a person who gets cold easily, so it might just be a personal preference. Otherwise, everything was perfect. I highly recommend it!
