Apartamentos Amarelo

Das Appartment war sehr groß, sauber und für uns von der Lage perfekt. Der Gastgeber sehr sympathisch und das Essen unten im Restaurant lecker.

We were told the keys would be at the cafe below but it was shut.

The location is fine, but unfortunately the apartment does not match the photos shown online. The place was not fully clean, and there was an unpleasant smell coming from the kitchen cabinets. There were no proper duvets provided – only a rather uncomfortable blanket. The apartment was also very cold. The photos on Booking show nice views, but the apartment we received had a view of a roof and some run-down buildings, which was very disappointing. The manager tried to explain that we had booked a cheaper option, but that option had the same description as the one presented online, so it felt misleading and unfair. Overall, I feel disappointed and would not recommend this place.

Heel fijn en groot appartement met uitzicht op zee. De host helpt je met alles en geeft veel informatie. Als je in het appartement verblijft, krijg je korting in het restaurant Bar Amarelo, onder het appartement. Houd er rekening mee dat er in de keuken helemaal niks aan voorraad is. Wij zijn steeds beneden bij de bar koffie gaan drinken en broodjes/supermarkt is 3 minuten lopen.

Wij vonden alles prima. Enige wat handig zou zijn is een extra spiegel voor wanneer je de fohn wilt gebruiken. Dat kan niet op de badkamer.

Size of the apartment, location, spacious kitchen. Okay for 1-2 nights.

- It’s not cozy: minimal furniture, nothing on the walls or floors (paintings, carpets) to make it a nice and cozy stay. I’ve stayed in many apartments in Madeira that are the same price but so much more character and attention to detail. - Communication: I booked the apartment for myself and met another solo traveller the next day who ended up sleeping in the other room for the next night instead of driving back to Funchal very late. The owner came to knock on the door in the morning and told me I need to pay extra and would not believe at first when I said that I was there alone for the first night. The way he communicated, with an unfriendly and accusing tone, was something one would not have to experience as a paying guest after all, so this was very disappointing in addition to everything else (broken balcony lock, barely any hot water). - The shower: hot water didn’t start running until after several minutes and it lasted only for a few minutes until gone (probably something wrong with the boiler, reported this directly to the owner). It was a cold and rainy period and after a day of hiking, it was disappointing not to have a proper, warm shower. - The locks of the balcony doors (side doors) were broken (noticed later that someone had reported this in summer 2025 already). - Separate kitchen towels would have been nice to have while cooking.

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour à Caniçal. L’appartement était bien situé , dans un quartier vivant avec beaucoup de restaurants mais en même temps, calme, nous n'avons pas été gênés. C’était propre et facile d'accès. La plage est à côté. Le propriétaire est disponible et sinon quelqu’un au restaurant d’en dessous est toujours présent en cas de problème. L’appartement était très confortable pour 4.

Une partie du robinet du lavabo était cassé mais il fonctionnait bien.
