February 27, 2023, I, as mother, with my 4 year old child got into booked apartment(3 bookings for 29 days). I informed the owner of the apartment that I was from California and had only dollars. Next day the first question he asked me was: "Why did you leave the apartment today?". As a PhD psychologist, I quickly analyze any situation and consider different options for its consequences. Having heard such a question, I realized that I was dealing with a person whose psyche is did not correspond to a good mental norm. With caution, I answered him: "Please explain what exactly you meant by asking me this question?". The owner of the apartment told me in a rude commanding tone: "You must have stayed at home and waited for me to pay me the money for the accommodation." I realized that I needed to start behaving not like a tourist, but like a psychologist, in order to protect from fear my little child, who hid in the restroom. I told the owner of the apartment: "I can't wave a magic wand and turn my dollars into dinars. To do this, I had to go to a currency exchange office". The owner of the apartment rudely told me: "Yesterday I saw you and realized that you are a swindler. I am sure that you will remove and take all household appliances and furniture from my apartment. Pay me now all the money for renting my apartment." I told him that my third booking for his apartment will start on March 28th. I said that the Booking.com system indicated that I must pay during the stay. But he psychologically attacked me, rudely and aggressively demanded me to pay the full amount for all bookings now. I decided to get away from the conflict in a foreign country and paid him the amount he demanded(before the next 2 bookings). The apartment is very dirty. There is no mosquito net on the window near the front door. Lots of spiders in the apartment.

Very dirty apartment. Owner of this apartment without my request and permission has expressed his opinion to me that he was visited by disturbing thoughts that because my child does not look like me in skin color, then I (mother) can be a criminal person involved in the traffic of children. My attempts to finish the apartment owner's monologue were in vain. Every time under various everyday pretexts he came to the apartment that I rented for 29 days, he, standing inside the apartment at the front door, continued to monologue non-stop, scrupulously telling me about what terrible tourists lived in his apartment in the past. And even when I tried to explain to the owner of the apartment that it was time for me to feed the baby or it was time to go to the store, he continued to talk. The behavior of the owner of the apartment is looks like behavior of a person with an emotional disorder. He offered me 4 times to find another apartment, promised to return the rest of my money to me. In the correspondence, which is stored in the Booking.com system, the owner of the apartment promised me to bring the rest of my money on the day indicated by him, but when he and his wife came, he told me that day before his house was robbed, money was stolen, so he has no money to return to me. In California, this behavior of the owner of this apartment towards me is called stalking and bullying. When I told the owner of the apartment about this laws, he answered me that there are other laws in Serbia. My first visit to Serbia and the hope of enjoying a holiday with my child turned into a 29 day hell.
