Disheartening Experience at Whitesands Ocean View Block B We arrived at Whitesands Ocean View Block B after an incredible few days in Cape Town, full of excitement and joy as we explored the city with the girls. Our first stay in Milnerton by the beach was magical, and our second in Bloubergstrand was equally wonderful. We were on such a high, soaking in the beauty of Cape Town and creating lasting memories. Unfortunately, our experience at Whitesands fell far short of expectations. From the moment we arrived and met Kathleen, we were met with a cold and unwelcoming demeanor. Instead of the warmth and hospitality we had enjoyed at our previous stays, we were bombarded with rules and warnings about not breaking anything. It was only then that I realized there was an unexpected R1000 damage deposit mentioned somewhere in the fine print. The atmosphere immediately shifted. What had been a joyous and carefree holiday turned tense and uncomfortable. No one felt free to touch anything or even relax in the apartment, fearing we might accidentally do something wrong. It felt like staying in a "glass castle" where we had to tread carefully at every step. Hospitality is about creating a home away from home, a place where guests feel welcomed and comfortable. Sadly, this was the opposite. The contrast with our previous accommodation, where the owner’s warmth and kindness made us feel truly valued, was stark. We were relieved that we had only booked for one night. This experience dampened the spirit of what had been an otherwise wonderful trip. I would not recommend staying here if you’re looking for a place where you can feel free, relaxed, and genuinely welcomed. This conveys your disappointment in a heartfelt and professional way, emphasizing the importance of hospitality and setting clear expectations for future guests.
