Good sized bedrooms and the lounge

The kitchen was a bit small (& big hill in front of the apartment but it is no one’s fault!)

Small older apt up a hill on the other side of the river. Someone worked hard to do a nice renovation. it was close to the main part of Alesund along the water front.

The lighting was very poor especially in the bedrooms. Dryer would not work.

The apt was clean.

The apt is up a VERY Steep long hill. Access to keys was in a back alley where the door to the closet like area was awkward. the front door did not lock with our key. The kitchen cabinets and appliances were once white now all painted black which was coming off. No Electrical outlet on counter, was a strip above stove area which was also painted black and needed to be turned on by a switch next to bathroom. Very odd. No instructions on how to use appliances. No coffee or coffee filters in apt. No information to tell us where to find a grocery store. Bathroom had a variety of open toiletries left by others. No shampoo or soap for shower. No laundry soap. The toilet was sweating\leaking and I messaged owner and never heard back in the several days we were there. Big issue was no smoke alarms in apt. No USB outlets, u must have European plug and outlets not convenient. Very few places to hang clothes/towels in bathroom. furniture seemed well used, No clocks in apt. No central heat, there are old electric heaters in each room, we used for short time to warm up room than unplugged as heater felt hot to touch. Would be nice to have a 3 ring binder to list appliance instructions in Norwegian n English , also where to find grocery store, taxi info, closest bus stop, local cafes, emergency numbers, map of area. etc. Very few coffee shops open before 10 am.

Although on a steep hill, the location is very convenient for exploring the beautiful city of Ålesund. Overall, we were content with our choice. The owner, although out of town, did his best to respond to our queries.

Although the kitchen is well equipped, there is no plug point at countertop level so plugged in kettle and toaster on floor - odd. There was no written guidance on facilities or amenities nearby. Suggests minimal effort to welcome guests.

Good location, clean, comfy beds.

Parking is a bit of a hazzle.
