Man And Tree House - De Waterkant

Beware of this property. Ratings look good and it has some nice elements but we checked out early due to false promises made by the owners on top of other issues with the property. Nice things: Comfortable bed Good location (but it’s next to a bar/pub so expect noise) One flat had a balcony which is noisy due to the bar and the other family studio faces a wall so while quieter, you look at a wall.

- it’s not self catering (*see below for explanation) - not maintained and many safety issues (see pics with exposed wires and a duct tape air con unit that could barely cool the flat) - flat smelled due to poor plumbing - the owners will do whatever they can to make money. Lied to us about the self catering and then insisted we were in the wrong. Offered a taxi from the airport that was almost double the price of Uber. *The owners went to great lengths to lie about the kitchen and will likely reply to this saying they never promised a full kitchen despite me asking them prior to arriving and them assuring they had a full kitchen. They also asked me to book an extra night outside the app and proceeded to try to convince me it was a better price than Booking which was evidently false based on many screenshots I took that they tried to refute. On the whole, the flat had promise but the owner I had to deal with seemed to care more about getting the most amount of money from me than about trying to take care of the customer. For the price they are charging, there are better value and better maintained places in Cape Town.

Great location, friendly hosts, good value, really comfy. The neighbourhood is perfect, close to all the necessities, great cafes and restaurants in the area, we felt very safe the whole time. The bar nearby shuts by 11 every night, so nothing to worry about for sleep! The parking has a security guard, just be sure to make it obvious your car is empty.

We loved everything, but a recommendation would be that a hot plate could take the kitchenette to the next level to accommodate longer stays.

The hosts were absolutely lovely and so accommodating. I don't think I have ever come across hosts who are so keen to make sure you are comfortable and happy. The bed was super comfortable and everything was very clean. The area is lively, safe and very close to the main attractions and transport. If I go back to Cape Town I will definitely stay here again!

Stefan and Andre were great hosts. Very welcoming and we appreciated the extra effort of securing a parking space for the night! Perfect location in the heart of De Waterkant. Was a great stay just too short!

The hosts were very welcoming and gave us some useful tips on the area, though it wasn't our first visit. The room was comfortable and the house has a lot of character.
