Self-catering studio in beautiful Charmouth

Great little place, perfect location, everything you could want for your stsy.

The bed was quite uncomfotable, so did not sleep the best. But everyting ekse was great.

It was very clean, compact and very well equipped. Great views. Easy parking. Great location for walking into Charmouth with lots of walks around the coast.

The accommodation as a whole

Clean and when I asked for help with instructions for the induction hob and heating there was a helpful reply.

The property is listed as a ‘one bedroom apartment’ and on the listing it describes ‘a separate bedroom’ and lists features of the ‘bedroom’ separate from features of the ‘living room’ so when a friend who I’ve met once before asked to join me as we are on a workshop together I said yes. When she arrived the place was absolutely freezing. Cold weather had been forecast. The instructions were not clear enough and she followed the once’s she found and boosted the heating for an hour. It was still very cold. After a long time and working out how to keep the heating on and phoning the owners to override the thermostat we made it warm enough to relax in. There was also no bedroom!!! There is a pull down bed in a cupboard with a good enough mattress but the sofa beds mattress is terrible and no bedding (once I’d paid non refundable they said to bring a sleeping bag, which I did but the mattress was worse than you’d expect in a hostel and only some people can bring bedding - you might be already travelling for example. We could have tried to get a refund and refused to stay because it’s not ok to claim there is ‘a separate bedroom’ (see attached photos from the listing) when there isn’t one. But the accommodation is out of the village, out of season and it was dark, cold and raining hard and both of us got lifts from the station with people from the workshop - no car. Thankfully my friend and I got on with it and shared a bed. We didn’t expect to sleep in the same room let alone the same bed. It might be a family member you feel uncomfortable sharing a bed with - the sofa bed was terrible, but either way you are in the same room. The kitchen was fine, instructions should be left for turning the lock off the hob and a torch is needed to see how to do the heating on the cupboard. If you are offering a sofa bed it should have a mattress that’s accessible for a holiday not an emergency AND bedding. Otherwise don’t offer a sofa bed.

Spotlessly clean, very well supplied, and felt surprisingly spacious. The kitchen had plenty of equipment, and tea, coffee, oil, and a few herbs & spices (as promised). There's no freezer compartment but the fridge is efficient. The electric shower is flexible, with an overhead or side spray, and pressure and heat controls. The instructions for getting in were all clear and correct.

The only negative was the rock and roll nature of the pull-down bed. You are aware of your partner's every move.
