"Nice apartment that is quiet at night"

8.0

Great location in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance of Plaza Machado, the historic center, olas altas beach and the malecon. It's just a10 minute taxi ride to the lighthouse or the marina, so getting to stone island is very convenient. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars nearby, as well as a pharmacy. It's on a quiet street in a quiet area. The apartment is secure and comfortable in a nice building.

The 2 biggest downfalls to this apartment are the curtain situation and the beds. As other reviewers have mentioned, the curtains are very sheer. There are exterior lights that shine throughout the entire night, and in the morning, as soon as the sun comes up light streams into the bedroom. We used the comforter from one of the other beds to cover the window and that helped somewhat. But really, this place would benefit greatly from darker shades. I know that the owners and the managers are aware of this, because other reviewers have mentioned it. I don't think curtains would cost that much to replace in the two bedrooms. But they seem to not care to do anything about it. So if you're a light sleeper, make sure you bring an eye mask or pick another place to stay. This is the main reason that they didn't get a 10 from me. When several reviewers make you aware of such a simple fix and you refuse to do it, it genuinely makes me question how much you care about your guest's comfort. The beds were not that comfortable. They weren't terrible, but they were really just a C. We ended up spending two of our five nights on the couch. The beds are good quality and since mattress firmness is very individual, I'm more willing to let this slide than the curtain situation. The top bunk bed however, is patently unsafe? The ladder is not securely attached to the bedframe. The top step is less than an inch wide, so it would be very easy to slip off of that, especially for a kid in the night. The railing that keeps one from rolling off is also unsafe. That needs to be several inches highe in order to do anything to stop a person from rolling off.

nice location.. Nice bedding. Nice hot shower.

the electrinic keys didn't work and we literally had to pick the lock to get into the building. also the lication on booking.com was misleading and almost cancelled the booking due to not being able to find the building. the sofa was very dirty and clearly had not been cleaned for a long time. there was no drinking water there was a lack of cutlery.

"Unacceptably difficult to gain access."

1.0

In the morning of 18 November, I change my previous travel plans and decide to stay on that night in Mazatlan. After reserving via booking.com at 192 Playa las Hadas, I get an email with a receipt for payment around 10 am. The time is set by my mail server in Germany, which is actually 7 hours advanced over the local time in Mexico, so the email's time-stamp says 5 pm. This time difference holds for all other times stated. Almost simultaneous emails give me the PIN 5671 for my apartment and information about calling or emailing the provider, and say that they will email instructions about entry by 3.30 pm. I try calling them, but they only answer with a recorded message in high-speed Spanish, impossible to understand for me. I send a message saying that I will be travelling without internet access for most of the day. They ignore this. Around 6 pm, I find the apartment's street. Most houses are unnumbered, and some neighbors that I ask have no idea where number 192 is. I later learn that the house has a well-posted name. Had I known it, finding the building would have been easy, but the owners chose to never divulge this. I hang around the area and eventually ask two visitors from Canada to help me. They kindly let me into their own apartment and connect to the internet. I write: "Urgent! I do not know how to get into my apartment! Your messages do not tell me which apartment it is and how to get in. I am despaired!" They answer: "Just follow the instructions we sent you." But they never sent me any instructions. They gave me a wrong PIN. The lockbox contains a key for the outside door, but unless you have that, there is no way to enter the building. Catch-22: to get inside, you have to open the lockbox which is inside. Later I receive those instructions which they never sent at the promised time. And they completely ignored my statement that I was without internet connection while travelling or before getting into the apartment.
