Villa Haaveranta - Private Villa by the lake

Villa Haaveranta is the perfect balance if you’re wanting the peace of an idyllic rural Finnish landscape, but would like to be within 30 minutes of the centre of Rovaniemi. The location of the villa was absolutely breathtaking. Perched on the bank of Lehtojärvi, it was incredible waking up to the views across the frozen lake every morning. It was a much needed break from the chaos surrounding daily city living, and we have found the place that we will return to every year. The villa was equipped with all amenities, utensils and machines that you could need for your stay from a coffee machine, bottle opener and corkscrew (for the wine drinkers), to washing products in the bathroom. Everything was catered for by Kati and Petri. I must say, the thing that made this stay so special were the hosts themselves. Kati and Petri were the most accommodating and friendly hosts that I have ever met. They live near the villa and are always on hand to help or provide advice and assistance. Kati came to inform us at midnight that the Aurora was flaring up and took us out to see it in all its beauty and the night before we left she organised for us to see some huskies. Petri (after I accidentally pulled the door handle off the hire car) came to the rescue with his tools and helped me fix it! Their kindness and friendship throughout our stay towards us and more importantly our 8 year old son showed no limits. Their dogs Nasti, Nukka and little Nuoska are beautiful, and it was interesting to learn from Petri and Kati how Nasti and Nukka track Moose during autumn! We left feeling as though we made two great new friends. We will definitely be back for many years to come!

Villa Haaveranta was amazing, we loved everything about our stay. We arrived late at night but Petri and Kati were there waiting to greet us, with a roaring fire warming the house! The house was very comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed for our stay, even toys for our children and a few bits of food and milk to keep us going until we could get to a shop the next day. The location was incredible - it felt so safe and peaceful, and we felt very lucky to have amazing views of the Northern Lights over the lake (thank you so much to Kati for coming to let us know when they were visible!). We will be back to stay again!

This was the best stay in any property found on booking.com over the last few years. Hosts - super nice and welcoming. Facilities - spacious, comfortable, well equipped and extra clean Sauna Lake Bonus treats like strawberries, drinks and ice cream. The price is very friendly I highly recommend it if you are in the area.

I would stay in this place over and over again. I would come just here for a week of relaxation. Unfortunately, this is far far away.

The hosts are the nicest people ever. They were super forthcoming, sweet, helpful and made sure that absolutely everything is the best for us. The house is big, comfortable, very clean and has more things than you would ever expect from a rental, everything is available and made easy for guests to use. I highly recommend staying there, even just as a getaway, the area is close to city, yet feels very remote and the quiet is unlike anywhere else.

Such an amazing property. Exceeded my expectations. Beautiful location and hosts were so friendly. Villa was very clean and had everything we needed. You will need a car, but there is on-site parking and it is easy to find. Only 30 mins from centre of Rovaniemi. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back. The view of the northern lights over the lake was a definite highlight. Thank you Kati and Petri for allowing us to stay in such a lovely place.
