Great host, nice patio area, good location

Not many restaurants in the area. Beach was under construction

Very well situated flat right by the beach. Flat was tidy and well equipped. Heater/Cooler worked well and fast. Owner very helpful. When there was first some trouble with the wifi we immediately got a new modem and it worked perfectly. Parking was safe with own spot behind locked gate.

Fantastic location: the supermarket “Michelangelo” is actually the same building as the overall complex (although accessed from the sea-front promenade, not internally) and the complex is he first from the sea (there is only the large green space in between) so the fantastic beach is less than 1 minute away! The complex is well managed with a brilliant pool. The apartment is on the ground floor, so very easy to access, and was perfectly clean with a private garden area. Finally, the host helped us hugely: we left on the middle Sunday of August which we did not know is a religious public holiday. Therefore there were no Taxis available. Luckily, our next destination was not very far and so he drove us there. Thankyou so much for avoiding an unpleasant or stressful situation during our holiday!

The property is fine, but I will describe the strengths/weaknesses of La Pineda to help others. On the first day, I thought La Pineda was “functional” because there is no traditional centre (which I would like). But in the end, we all liked it very much: the atmosphere was good; the beach is really excellent quality; and the town layout with the ‘promenade’ road and grass near the sea is well designed and well managed. The hotels seemed a mix of quality and mid-range, which makes a good mix of people. The people were mainly Spanish, but fairly international and we were always welcome. unexpectedly, we did not visit the water park. We did take a bus to Tarragona for an evening, which I recommend. It was 20 minutes, €2.05 (in 2022) each way, and ends at the bus station at the end of La Ramblas so very central. The biggest weakness of La Pineda seemed to be the restaurants. There were many slightly expensive seafood oriented - we only tried one (Ocean, in the same complex as the apartment) and the experience was nothing special. The food was mixed. We liked “El Rincon” tapas - although the service was just as unpredictable as “Ocean”, and more than expected we liked “Texas” which looks down-market but was very welcoming, had the widest choice (salads, tapas, burgers, pizzas, chicken, and curries made by the Indian host). Although I recommend “Texas” to people who might pass it, I would highlight that there was a gap in La Pineda of quality “mid-range” restaurants unfortunately. we ate at Texas & El Rincon twice each, which is unusual for us, because there simply was no other choices. This is one reason I recommend an evening in Tarragona - we had the best Tapas of the week there.
