This property could be amazing – the location - the views over the beach and bay - the private parking but it is badly let down by poor standards and an indifferent owner. Well customers can be indifferent too and so, whilst will be back in Santander, we will not return to Vistas Al Mar. We will give our money to another, hopefully more attentive, property.

We asked for an early entry around 1pm and we got a message that this was not possible but we could leave our luggage and collect the keys at this time. When we arrived just after 1 pm there were no keys in the key safe and no response from the apartment. We messaged the owner - no response. We returned at 3 pm (our official entry time) and we got access from the cleaner who told us she would not finish cleaning until about 5:30 pm, but at least we got the keys and dropped off our luggage. We left and returned after 5:30 and the cleaner was still there and did not leave until after 6:30 pm. The kitchen - there was a broken glass on the worktop and we asked the cleaner if that would be replaced and she shrugged, so we messaged the owner and got a response “ there are wine glasses, we do not supply drinks”. We had 1 red wine glass, 1 white wine glass and 1 cava glass as well as numerous very small “shot” glasses and 6 beer glasses – not exactly ideal for our party of three. We bought 2 wine glasses for the grand sum of 4€ to allow us to enjoy a glass of wine. We are not alone in this criticism, it is mentioned in other reviews. Two of the frying pans were unusable due to rust and peeling of Teflon. This is a health hazard. No chopping board for chopping vegetables or fruit. Had to ask cleaner to leave the iron out for us - she had locked it away Duvet cover on bed was clean but well worn No duvet cover on bed in second bedroom Almost every plate was chipped, which must have occurred over a period of time, but no-one had thought to replace them. This is a health hazard. We messaged the owner asking how to open the large windows on the balcony. He responded, but with incorrect instructions (the handles need to point down – not up) to open them, wasting about half an hour of our time. There were no bins in any of the rooms, except the kitchen and it was tiny.

Location was excellent and apartment was a very good size.

kitchen needs improvements, a few simple changes would make a big difference. The rest of the apartment was a high standard, the kitchen is big, just needs more equipment in it.

Excellent location. Spacious. Fantastic views. Good TV. Parking on site. Lovely balcony overlooking beach.

Kitchen ill -equipped, 2 wine glasses, and 1 champagne flute!!!! No kettle. Thin / old towels. 3 stools in kitchen for 4 people .

The views were to die for. Kitchen well equipped, missing cheese grater and whisk. Dish washer washing machine fridge freezer very efficient. Contact was only by mail through booking.com. Spanish speakers. Nearby supermarket. We lived separate shower rooms. Bedrooms vast. Comfortable beds. Balcony a good size for 4. Plenty of plug sockets.

Communication challenge, the renters assured me that my mobility scooter would fit in the lift and it did not, so it was left in the communal foyer with no supply of electricity to charge. This limited my ability to explore. Possible misunderstanding, as a disabled oap we were assured we could leave 1-2 and a cleaner arrived at 12 insisting she must clean. Even after a call to the apartment renters she still insisted on cleaning. My Grandson and I packed as quickly as possible whilst she cleaned bringing our stay to an abrupt end and having to find somewhere to wait till our taxi arrived.

The location of the property was excellent with beautiful sea views. The apartment itself is of a nice size with plenty of room. The lounge area was comfortable if you wanted to watch TV and the bathrooms were modern and had been up graded.

The kitchen is at the back of the apartment and the units are dated but ok. There was no dining room table although there were 4 dining chairs. The breakfast bar in the kitchen was not ideal either so we had all our meals on the balcony where there was a small coffee table. The larger bathroom shower was very difficult use you could not turn the tap on without some force. The smaller bedroom and lounge had some repair work done but the decoration had not been completed and made the rooms look tired.
