Falésia II - Nice Apartment - Vilamoura

Spacious Apartment, Big Balcony, good location

Property was not cleaned after the previous guests, which, after travelling for nearly 8 hours was most frustrating. After arrival, we then had to wait until the apartment was cleaned before we could check in. We did receive a small compensation for this inconvenience, but this type of error is unacceptable. The property although spacious badly needs upgrading. There are horrible chipboard bedside tables in one of the rooms, also the bedcover in that room is grubby & smelled as though it had t been washed for months. (I noticed this was also pointed out by another guests a few weeks ago). There was paper peeling off the shelves in the wardrobe of other room (also highlighted before). There is a very poor selection of items in the kitchen which should be addressed. The furniture on the balcony is awful, which is a shame as it is a lovely balcony. The pool area was uninviting with terrible sun loungers & lots of tiles missing from the pool which could cause injury. Very inflexible cancellation policy. My husbands mother passed away just before we were due to travel & not only were we not allowed to cancel the booking without losing what we had paid, we were only allowed to change the dates if we agreed to pay the original amount. This, despite the fact that the rate had come down in the meantime, (as we travelled a month later than the initial date). I also felt we were pressurised into choosing new dates which was very difficult when we were trying to deal with my mother in law’s death & all that entailed. I feel strongly that where a guest suffers the loss of a close family member, cancellation with a full refund should be possible, even the airline refunded us in full. A bit of empathy would go a long way in situations like this.

location 15 minute walk to the Marina and 12 minute walk to beach. Plenty of on street parking. Local shops 8 minutes away. The apartment is in a quiet residential area. The apartment had good and bad points. There are 2 fine size bedrooms and a massive balcony that gets the sun in the afternoon, the air conditioning is great and needed at night. Bathrooms are a fine size but a little dated. There was no extraction in the bathrooms and their was slight mould around the bath. The showers were good but the main shower needs it's door handle replaced inside. The reason we rate this as a 2 out of five is as follows. The bed cover in the master bedroom were not nice looking The worst part of this room were the bedside tables, the worst we have ever experienced in an apartment, made of chipboard and not even covered.There were no headboards in this room, we decided to use the second bedroom which was brighter, The wardrobes had plenty of space but had been lined with paper that was lifting up. The kitchen was fine but the mismatch of cups,glasses,plates and cutlery was not good. A visit to IKEA definitely required. The images of the balcony show sunbeds, their are none. There were sunbeds at the pool but they were locked together by their owners, they did not look in good condition. On enquiry to property management they replied that the sunbeds were at the pool ???. The balcony itself needs new tables and chairs. The ones there were not comfortable to sit on and the table top lifts off its legs. We did ask for wine glasses and they promptly arrived. This apartment had badly needs new furniture and updating.

Great location 10 min to marina and very good apartment, had everything you could need.

The location was perfect for us, 15mins walk to the Old Village area with bars and restaurants and 15mins walk the other way to the marina with bars and restaurants and when we needed peace and tranquility we returned to the apartment.

The seating in the lounge area was a bit poor.

We could not get the dishwasher to work. Some instructions for it would be useful. However as we were eating out most of the time this was not a major item.

We thought the apartment was lovely in a quiet area of the town with swimming pool and super large balcony. It took 15 mins walk to the marina but a super area for cycling that could be hired or used by the app; as in UK

We would recommend to the owner : An information booklet /file SHOULD BE LEFT IN THE PROPERTY as we had no car this trip it would have been useful to know how to find transport. We eventually found out about the "little road train around the area" and the hop on hop off bus. This would have been a great asset to finding out about:- Rubbish, location of nearest bus stop, nearest food shop, route to town, taxi service/medical numbers for emergency, how to work the TV./ oven etc. Limited towels /kitchen linen available/ mats for the table/ we had to actually go out an buy a cork screw for wine!!!! Limited utensil for self catering in the kitchen. Shame as a lovely apartment. In all other properties we have rented this has ALWAYS bee available and an asset to our stay.
