We had a lovely time, the kids loved the pets and the horses.

Pool table and hot tub kept the kids and adults entertained

Could have done with another shower for the size of the house & no tea towels to dry the washing up. Also could to do with a lick of paint

The house was in a lovely, quiet location perfect for a relaxing stay in the countryside. There was lots of room and it was spacious.

We were really disappointed with the cleanliness- the dishes and cutlery required washing before we could use them, lots of parts of the bathrooms unclean with flies stuck to the shower tiles, dirty floors (our socks were brown), mirrors, cobwebs, fridge hadn't been cleaned, inside of kitchen cupboards were really dirty. There were no bedside lamps. One of the bedrooms had no blinds and the curtains had been removed in the living room. Overall felt the house needed more care for a holiday rental.

The overall cleanliness of the Cottage needs to be improved. Especially the kitchen area. We could not use the oven because it needed to be cleaned which was a big disappointment.

The location

I booked this accommodation for my family as we were visiting Scotland for a wedding and although the price for 3 nights accommodation was high, we paid £795, we liked the look of it and thought it would accommodate us nicely. However, the cottage was misrepresented by Booking.com and their partners. The cottage was extremely filthy. There was one filthy shower and 2 toilets. I asked the owner who lives on the site to have it cleaned or at the very least to provide cleaning material which she did not. The kitchen cupboards were filthy and the cooking equipment and oven was disgustingly dirty. The radiators were extremely dirty. There was nowhere to hang our clothes in the bedrooms. I made a complaint to Booking.com and instead of being compensated the owner of Meadowhead Cottage had the audacity to charge us £150 for use of the hot tub, which we did not use or requested to use and £60 for a late checkout. If you are thinking about booking this cottage please do not. The facilities are very poor and insufficient for 8 people.

Location. We used here as a stopover to break up our journey from Cairnryan to Edinburgh. The drive out to the Cottage and the walks around were beautiful. Remote, peaceful and quiet. Kids had great fun on the tree swings in the garden and loved seeing the horses
