Pet-Friendly Victorian, Free Parking, Workspace

Really close to station and town. Great base for exploring colchester. Friendly neighbours. Well equipped. Welcome 'gifts' were lovely. Very clean. Organised recycling system. Good tv and netflix. Great friendly communication by hosts, who checked in with us during our stay (thank you!). Really useful to have a washing machine.

Window in main bedroom didn't close properly. Water not very hot for showers and washing up (we didn't want to fiddle with the settings and it wasn't really a problem for us). Kitchen tap needs replacing (it was corroded) and bathroom could do with a repaint. (Not meant to be overly critical but hopefully gives a few pointers on how the really great owners could make the property even better!!).

Location of the property close to town centre, local shops and restaurants. Very clean, and all the necessary utensils were available. Every thing we need during our stay was there. Greatly appreciated welcoming snacks and drinks, so we could quickly settle in without have to rush to the shops for the first essentials. Lovely soft beds

Could not find a hover/ dishcloths, would have been handy to keep everything clean.

It was comfy,the owners made an effort to feel at home with treats and gifts (including a bottle of sparkling wine) plus Netflx etc. The wifi was excellent and the house have had all amenities needed for a short stay. New and clean carpets!

The architecture is not so convenient with bedrooms upstairs and bathroom downstairs. There were signs of molde in the bathroom but this can be easily rectified.

It’s a charming, cosy place. It’s evident that the owner puts in effort to create a home away from home. There were snacks and drinks provided for free. The place has been renovated and upgraded and is very clean. The house is tastefully decorated with all the facilities needed. Location is a short walk to the bus stop and abt 15 mins to the train station.

The staircase is pretty steep and the toilet is located downstairs. A slight inconvenience given the narrow steps and when you need to go to the loo especially at night. There’s no lock from the inside at the main door. I feel that an added lock would make the place feel more safe especially for women travellers

The property was lovely and clean and suited us.

The internal stairs are steep narrow. Anyone with a physical disability would struggle. The cottage is close to the high road but it is at the bottom of the high road, there is a big hill up to the town Center. However, there is a bus you can catch.

Location was excellent. Less than a 10 minute walk to get to the heart of the town centre, a large grocery store, and the main train station. Even though it was close to town, it was pretty quiet overall with minimal traffic. It was also nice to have an outside space to sit in. I appreciated having the recycling bins just outside the back door to limit the amount of garbage. Overall, the property was well appointed with what we needed for our stay. It was also nicely decorated. The furniture was appropriate for the size of the space. The snacks and sparking wine were a very welcome touch. It was nice to have a full size fridge/freezer.

This is by no means the fault of the property itself, but the street often had garbage strewn around, perhaps from people putting their garbage bags out and animals getting to them. There is no AC so it got quite warm inside on hot days. A couple key items were missing that we had to purchase (cloth for kitchen, antibacterial spray for kitchen). The frying pan and cooking utensils are very tired/damaged and need replacing. The stairs are incredibly steep and there is only one bathroom which is downstairs.
