Kākā Ridge Retreat Bush Hideaway

Great hosts who really went the extra mile to make sure we had an excellent time, comfy bed, being in the middle of nature

We loved every second of our stay

The location was fantastic with a great view on one side and secluded bush on the other. It was rustic but with all the mod cons. John and Katherine were the perfect hosts. I loved my stay here and will definitely book again!

Lovely and relaxing, hosts were really lovely, wish we could have stayed another night to really enjoy the peacefulness of nature.

Beautiful location

Lovely bush location. Rustic yet modern facilities in a quiet private space, with balcony to sit and listen to the birds and wooden door to provide seclusion from the main house. Appreciated bathrobes being provided. Owners were very friendly and hospitable, including offering some of their garden produce. Amazing panoramic view of the bay from their garden. A great stop off for accessing the Tawharanui Reserve.

Only minor quibbles. Would have liked small side tables on either side of the bed, to hold a cup, phone or book, and a small cabinet next to the worktop with a cutlery drawer, plus a rail to hold the teatowel and hand towel. A minor inconvenience that the bathroom is outside the main room, meaning going outside at night. The bathroom door should really open outwards.

For my partner's birthday the host went above and beyond to make him feel special. Very good contact. Stunning location. Surprisingly modern and comfortable spot with everything we could possibly need. We thoroughly enjoyed it there. Would highly recommend.

Everything was perfect!

Great location, a real treat. Very cosy stay and the locally roasted Matakana coffee was beautiful. Room was nicely decorated with a real homely feel.
