The noise from bar over the hedge

It is ideally located behind The Marine Hotel and within a few hundred metres of all the local bars, cafes and the main attraction and reason for our stay, the beach. It’s clean, comfortable and the contemporary decor was welcome. It’s well fitted out and has everything you need for a self-catered stay. The balcony was a welcome addition and a lovely place to enjoy the summer sun. Parking was ample and made things a lot easier (we don’t travel light!).

Given its close proximity to cafes and bars, it’s very noisy at night. We were kept awake both nights until the early hours of the morning as residents of the Harbour Bar serenaded us with songs of the sea- not as pleasant as it sounds! Given the time of year, opening the windows was vital to allow some cooler air to flow but impossible given the noise. If you’re a heavy sleeper, then this won’t bother you but unfortunately, I’m not. I’m assuming bars and restaurants have acquired late licenses as I expected them to close at 11pm during the week because it was closer to 2am by the time the noise settled. There was a lot of confusion as to where the entry point to the apartment was. We were supposed to receive an email providing all the details required for our stay but I never received it ( perhaps the email I provided was copied incorrectly and sent to someone else?) The booking.com profile lists the name as ‘Causeway coast apartments’ so that’s what we looked for but the sat nav couldn’t pick up the address/postcode provided on site. The actual name is ‘Marine apartments’ implying the apartments belong to the hotel and since we didn’t book through them, we were unsure of where to go. This was cleared up with a phone call but when the gate code supplied via text, didn’t work, it only added to our confusion and delayed our access further but this was all rectified and we really appreciated the efforts gone to following this mistake.

The apartment was location was perfect, the process of obtaining the keys was very easy, the instructions from the host were accurate and easy to follow.

The only issue that we had was that the door to the apartment was a bit fidgety.

The apartment was clean, tidy and bright. It was very close to ballycastle beach and harbour and only a short walk into town. There was safe free parking and the host provided very clear instructions to access the gated parking area and to access the keys for the property.

I did not like how the bedrooms backed onto the beer garden of a local pub that played loud music and lots of noise to the early hours of both nights we stayed, therefore affecting our sleep and our stay due to tiredness.

The check in arrangements and information provided made it easy to get in to the property.

There were some problems with the shower resulting in flooding that made the floor tiling slippery, We reported it and were advised the property manager would be notified but there was no more action after that. It’s behind a hotel so it can get a little noisy on a Saturday night.

Great location with good secure parking. Communication regarding keys, access information, how to use appliances etc was excellant.

Would have liked more towels and perhaps dish cloths and a tea towel

Location was fantastic. Met and exceeded our expectations. We would definitely stay there again.
