Carvetii - Edward House D - 2 Dbl bed 2nd floor flat

The flat has been updated and it's really modern and comfy. I was traveling with my parents and it was perfect for our stay to visit Edinburgh as it's only 20 min by train.

The check in is a little bit late than in other places. However you can contact them to arrange an early or late check out

Lovely city. Nice space. Good location. Nice kitchen.

Overwhelming for us was the smell of animal faeces when we first arrived. We tried but couldn't detect the source but I couldn't sleep until I covered by nose and face with a sheet. It was disconcerting as the place was visually clean in appearance but we think it said it was animal friendly so put the smell down to maybe an accident prior to our stay? Other than that it's a nice place. Lots of stairs up if you have luggage and are international traveller's like us and no on site parking.

The property had two bedrooms

It was up two flights of stairs and no parking outside It was basic but had nice towels The worse thing was we couldn’t check in until 6pm, that is very late for a check in. We didn’t have children but if you had small kids you would have wanted to feed and get them ready for bed by then. It made a very expensive night 6pm till 10am check out. After getting in and then finding somewhere to eat we had no evening left to relax in the property

The only thing good about this place was the location.

This place was terrible. Literally the worst booking I've ever had. There was no table and only one chair to eat at. There was a folding table with chairs in the listing photo, so it was not as advertised. I emailed the owner and they claimed it was not in the listing, but I have a screenshot that shows a table. There was no coffee pot or french press, and the utensils provided in the kitchen were so weak and terrible they were impossible to cook with. There was no backsplash, everything was the cheapest quality you can imagine. The carpet was stained, the sheets were stained, the sofa had stains all over it. There was no sheets for the pullout sofa, we had to ask for them. The washer smelled like mold, I asked for bleach to clean it but they ended up giving us toilet cleaner which lefts suds in the washer. I had to run the wash 6 times to get it clean. There was damage in most of the walls with holes or missing wall material. The only thing that was nice was the location. Walking distance to a very nice little town. Parking was a pain though because it only took coins and it was only free after 6pm - 8am.
