Luxurious duplex penthouse with golf and sea views

The view is amazing in this apartment. This is the main selling point. The balcony was lovely and had good furniture. The booking and liaising for keys etc. was good. The apartment is spacious. Bedrooms were well decorated and comfortable.

We were very disappointed by this stay. We felt as though the apartment was not as portrayed on booking.com. I thought long and hard about writing this as i feel bad, however I trust reviews to make my choice on where we stay and I appreciate honesty. Sadly we had several issues which I have detailed below: Cleanliness 1. We found an inch of black dirt and grime behind a bed alongside someone's dirty pants (Photo) 2. On day 2 we came back the an almighty stench it was coming from the upstairs bathroom. We had to go out and buy bleach to put down the drains, and no-one could sleep upstairs that night as it was putrid.(photo) The smell stayed all and so we gave up and slept downstairs. 3. Lots of dirty handprints and 'footprints' on walls and ceilings (photo) 4. Pillows were yellow with someone's sweat marks on them (photo) Air Con - the aircon downstairs goes off every 2 hours as it is on a timer. So we didn't sleep for the whole week as we had to keep getting up in the middle of the night to turn it back on as it was August and very hot. The Spiral Staircase - this was quite tricky to get up and down and shook and so you had to be extra vigilant going up and down it.(photo) The Pool - this was tiny, stuck in between buildings with nowhere to sit. Plus the apartment offered no foldaway chairs or anything to sit on, so you have to sit on a hard floor!! (photo) General maintenance - lights missing bulbs, all locks on patio doors broken, shutters you had to stand outside and manually pull down as someone inside released the chord etc etc (photo) Location - this apartment is not near anything.. Someone had written a review stating this is near old and new town restaurants etc... it is maybe (if you walked v.fast) a 20 minute downhill walk to some restaurants... but it is 30 euros in a taxi to the marina!

We booked our stay in the apartment around 6 months before our stay. The main reason we booked the property was because it had a pool so everyone in our group, including those with mobility issues, could all enjoy the holiday together without having to leave the apartment too much throughout the day. At the time when we booked, the note about the pool being a communal pool shared with other buildings on the site was hidden in the description at the bottom and mentioned very briefly. The photos did not allude to this. Then just a couple of days before we were due to travel we were informed that the pool was broken and would not be fixed in time for our stay. We were unable to cancel as it was such short notice and we couldn’t find alternative accommodation within our price range on site. In addition to this, when we arrived there was only 2 toilet roles for a 5 day stay in an apartment of 9 people. There were no dishwasher tablets either. The air con downstairs switches off every 2 hours so those sleeping downstairs are left hot throughout the night or have to get up every 2 hours to keep cool and those staying downstairs found the floor to be dirty with their feet turning black. Overall, the photos make the accommodation look far nicer than it actually is. We weren’t very happy with our stay and feel it wasn’t worth what we paid.

The balcony is fantastic, the beds were supercomfy, the whole place is very clean and well equipped.

There is a cat across the road that winds up a dog in the block next door. The dog barks, at every meow. Its not particularly loud but can wake you up very occasionally.

The location was excellent within walking distance of old town and new, views amazing. The host was very helpful came to the property on his day off to give us the keys.

Lots of room for the number of guests staying. Great Views over the sea and the golf course.

Not all the WC facilities were working. Some of the external doors to private balconies did not open or lock, which was a security concern. Bathmats would have been nice and more towels.

The location does mean a 20 minute walk or 5 min cab ride. To town or to the nearest shop. This would be my only negative Absolutely great apartment
