Location - walking distance from center

Iron bed frame, distorted unconfortable mattress, so noisy that it is impossible to sleep without earplugs and unresponsive host.

Not very clean, creaking doors, humidity in bathroom, the house needs remodelling, missing kitchen tools, insects in ceilings

It's a very basic apartment - I did feel like being in one of those American motels you'd see in the movies. The basics are there - don't expect a very modern looking apartment experience. Chose this due to the approximate walking distance from central city. Free public parking (thus availability depends on what time of day you'd need it) in front of the building. Nice addition was that the pineapple farm is very close by. Apartment has all the basics covered. Beds were good for us. Kitchen had at least a gas stove, washing machine, fridge, microwave. Perhaps something more that we just didn't use. Kitchen had all the utensils and tools that we needed. Arranging the pickup meeting was easy via phone and we met in front of the building. Received a small welcome basket. Doors lock without a key, so don't forget the key inside or you will be locked out.

Do check what ingredients the (or any) apartment kitchen has or doesn't. We went to the shop (5min car ride), assuming, 'an apartment surely has salt or even cooking oil' - we were wrong. At least I find this these stuff so basic, which should be in any (good) apartment's kitchen by default. Sound isolation from the street was poor. I am not too sensitive to outside noises but there I was unable to get a good sleep without some noise blocking plugs. People seem to be quite active outside and the cars, especially scooters make horrific noise there (stayed there in July). Azores is known for having cockroaches. Met (only) one ourselves, so just FYI. I believe during our stay the entire house had some exterminator come by, once we had come back - You just have to live with them - cover your food or store it in the fridge, wash utensils and plates. Perhaps even close your suitcases, so no one climbs in for the ride ;) The booked 3-4 nights was an absolute maximum for me there. For longer stay I'd book something with more comfort.
