Large living area. Well appointed and clean. Comfortable beds. Close to the canal and sea locks made for interesting walks. Pub close by and an easy drive into the city.

"A great disappointment, cramped, impractical bathrooms"

3.0

We appreciated how clean the house was upon our arrival. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook and eat, which we were grateful for. The hosts were responsive and kind. The recliner sofa was comfortable to relax on. The beds were comfortable.

I really regret having to write this review, because the hosts couldn't have been nicer or more responsive, but future guests need to know some things that I didn't see in any of the reviews I read before I booked this property. This house is VERY cramped. It is charming, but that's as far as it goes. There are two bathrooms, but neither bathroom was useable, to be honest. Granted, we are Americans, and people will accuse us of not being used to European bathrooms, but these bathrooms are not just small, they are honestly impractical. One shower is so small you cannot lift your arms. The other "shower" is just a bathtub with a shower head, so if you try to use it, the water literally goes everywhere. The sink in one bathroom is smaller than a toaster and half of it is behind the small shower, so you can't use it anyway. If you are staying for a few days and plan to use the washer/dryer, be warned, it is an all-in-one, and the clothes DO NOT dry. And, if you have a car, the parking is impossible. And the only TV that is available to watch is Netflix. At least that's all we were able to figure out---we weren't able to sign into any of our streaming services because we have American accounts, and we weren't able to access any over-the-air channels, I don't think the cottage has any television set up. There is little space to spread out and put your luggage or clothes, especially if you are staying for a few days, the space is so small. We were four people, I cannot imagine more than four staying there. Also, there are very few plugs to plug in any of your electronics (a common problem in Europe, to be fair). So, overall, it pains me to say it, because the hosts were wonderful to us, but I just cannot recommend this experience to anyone else, especially Americans.

Location was just outside of Inverness, but close enough to be near everything.

The cottage was very cute and not far from the town. Being on the canal was nice for walks. The owners were easy to communicate with.

The road it is on is very busy and the parking was not convenient.
