The property was clean and the owner was responsive and helpful. We enjoyed the beach nearby.

The ocean view was very partial. You could see it if you stood awkwardly in front of the television or if you sat outside in a small area. We did not find the beds or pillows comfortable, but we understand that is always a possibility with travel. The neighbors were quite noisy even around midnight on a week day. White noise machines might be a good addition for the future.

Location, host communication, value for money. Loved having breakfast out on the balcony, gorgeous view.

Apartment was really huge and well equipped with nice view from the terrace.

Location was quiet and typical of a little fishing village. Very much enjoyed sitting on the balcony looking out to sea, over the gardens and the rooftops. Loved the night time gentle serenading by the neighbourhood cats and dogs, the Cory's Shearwaters and cicadas. Selma was a thoughtful, welcoming host; her communication was super and she was always friendly and helpful in her messages. The apartment felt like home straight away; quite basic, but with just about everything one could need for a week on this beautiful island. The beds were really comfortable and there was a bath tub as well as a shower - very good after a day hiking up hills or at sea in a Zodiac! That said - the road to Ribeira Quente leads through Furnas, so it's perfect for a thermal soak at the end of the day.

We struggled to get clothes dry in the lush Açorean climate - whether we had washed them or had just been caught in a downpour. In future we would probably pack rather differently, with only quick-dry stuff, but it would have been good to have another clothes horse, or a line in the bathroom with a few more pegs, rather than our creative arrangements with string and coat hangers. A low energy clothes airer would have been ideal - that said we soon got used to being damp. One other thing - although it was not a problem for us - the steep foot-path to the apartment, and the step into the yard mean that this probably isn't the best place for anyone with reduced mobility.
