Manhattan Lodge

Spacious and clean rooms. On sea front. Short walk for all amenities.

We were welcomed on arrival at Manhattan Lodge by Derek, who gave us the key and showed us around the spacious ground floor apartment. There was a large lounge area with big bay windows so plenty of light. I noticed that the curtains were stylish good quality and lined with tie backs. There were two comfortable supportive sofas with cushions, a family sized dining table and chairs, and a large TV on the chimney breast above the electric fire and fireplace. Everywhere was clean and tidy. The kitchen area included electric cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster and electric kettle. The bathroom was spacious, tiled (both the tiling in the bathroom and kitchen area has designer tiles). There was also a shower. All linens were spotlessly clean - towels, tee towels and bedlinen. In the bedroom was wall to wall wardrobe space, matching bedside cabinets and a TV. The location of the apartments is ideal, near to both the shops at Lytham St. Annes and to the sea front.

Very little not to like, except the beds could do with updating (very noisy bed springs). Some matching mugs in the kitchen cupboard would be nice.

Spacious, nice and clean and warm. Right opposite the beach and only 200 m from the pier. Derek was really helpful, will stay there again when we go back.

Perfect location, close to the town centre and across from the beach. Great views. Apartments, warm and comfortable.

Nothing really.

Apartment was a good size and comfortable, with TVs in sitting room and bedroom, plus board games for those staying with children. Owner very friendly. Sea view. Opposite the dunes and sandy beach and very near the lovely St Annes' Pier and also the town for food shopping (M&S, good bakers) or cafes and restaurants. We would stay there again. We know St Annes fairly well and came this time for a conference, so used the flat as a base for that.

Photos of interior on Booking.com showed a stairlift and as one of us has peripheral neuropathy this was an influencing factor in booking. When we arrived the stair lift did not exist and as our room was on the first floor, this proved an added difficulty. Cooker/Oven not working properly. When oven was used one of the top rings also came on, and the hob was faulty. Host did tell us when we arrived that it was faulty, but it probably should have been sorted before guests used the flat, or a reduction offered for the inconvenience as it is, after all, a self-catering flat. Heating came on at night, unbidden, and we were sweltering and could not find a way to turn it off. The actual switch marked 'central heating' was off and the other, which we assumed was an immersion switch, was also off.

Derek was an excellent host, who was so very accommodating and helpful. We requested a seaview and this was afforded to us. The accommodation was as described near to the sea and bars, restaurants, tearooms and supermarkets.

The weather was dreadful during the whole of our stay.
