"HORRIBLE!!!!!!"

Once you can enter the property it is need and has everything that you need, but the experience was absolutely horrible.

To begin with, who asks R5000 breakage deposit? I have never heard of that before. Before booking the property it was not mentioned but after booking it was only sent via mail. But nonetheless, we made pease with it, because that is the way they do it. We got married on the 14th of December and our reservation was for the day after. On the 13th of December I communicated with Marietjie when she asked me when and when we will book in and pay the damage deposit. My message to her was that we will pay it in cash on the 15th of December at the property when we check in between 2-5pm. She then replied with no problem. Saturday is my wedding and she sent me about 5 messages about now all of a sudden I must have an exact time of check in and I can not pay the damage deposit in cash? Uhmm., by this time I was almost sure she’s a scam! Sunday morning (the night after my wedding) she phoned us early the morning and kept on sending messages saying we must pay otherwise we must go and look for other accommodation. I then phoned her and she was absolutely rude!! Telling me over the phone that “I don’t understand” and if I don’t pay the damage deposit I can go and look for other accommodation, after I explained to her multiple times, we live in SA and I can’t just pay another R5000 online without even seeing the place!

"We had a wonderful stay it was just too short!"

The location was great! Absolutely lovely Spar. Country Club looked great when we went to look although we never had the time to spend time there. The balcony was so peaceful and made a lovely reading spot.

The kitchen lacked a few small items like a proper braai tong and oven mittens.

"Big unit but a few areas of maintenance required."

I liked the space which was available at the house.

The fridge didn’t work. We were unable to park our car in the garage. We experienced strong rainfall on the first evening which resulted in water leaking from the ceiling. We had to move to the other room as the noise from this was quite disturbing.

It’s a nice, comfortable and clean apartment. However, much more is needed if the owner wants to be a good host. One thing for sure, we will not come back again!

To start with, it’s a cleaning fee. At the very end of the booking process (one step before pressing “pay”) for the first time you get the information that a “cleaning fee” of around 40 euros/dollars will be added to your payment. So, the price that you actually pay is 40 euros higher than advertised. In addition, since a damage deposit of 250 euros is obligatory, be prepared to have some spare funds if you want to get the keys for the accommodation which you have already paid for. The “damage deposit” should be paid via bank transfer “in advance and on time”. We asked the owner for her bank account but haven’t received anything before our trip started. It was agreed that we will pay a deposit in cash, upon arrival. Following the house rule of “no entry before deposit is paid” we had to count money virtually on the street – not usual, not safe, not pleasant… Finally, a local representative was surprised when we asked for a cash receipt! A few phone calls and unpleasant discussions with the owner (additional 15-20 minutes) resulted in some receipt. After spending around 45 minutes outside, and in full sun, we managed to get in. So, the start was far away from being good and friendly. It continued with the discovery that “beachfront” was not exactly beachfront but some 10-15 minutes away (if you know the way). Swimming pool was not within the property but “available” some 200 meters away. Free toiletries were promised in the property description but were nowhere to be seen. After enquiring with the owner, we were prompted to visit a local Spar shop. Internet connection was available, but unreliable and very slow. Don’t count on it for any serious work!
