"Nice apartment, poor compound."

6.0

Apartment: The apartment is lovely, modern and a good size. The bed was comfortable and there was a fully fitted out kitchen which was nice as it is unusual in Sharm. Large Fridge/Freezer worked well. Plenty of storage area in the bedroom for clothes and a nice dressing table. The bathroom had hand wash and was modern also, but the shower could have been stronger. There were plenty of towels to use and these appeared to be good quality. There was a washing machine, hoover and cleaning things like brushes/mops. Lovely big balcony with chairs and coffee table. The host left a couple of bottles of water and some tea/coffee and cereal to get you started, which I thought was a nice touch. Shop on compound with nice/friendly staff. They deliver if needed. The office at entrance exchanges money too if needed (there are cash machines but they don't always work). -ve The check in could have been better. Whilst they allowed early check in which I was thankful for. When I arrived I was told there would be some electricity on but that I would have to top it up during my stay. After the agent left I tried to make coffee but there was no electricity, I contacted the agent to see if it was switched off etc, but it eventually turned out that there was NO electricity whatsoever and so I had to go out immediately to get some. This wasn't great following a 10 hour flight, the only thing I wanted to do was make coffee, have a shower and get some sleep. Having some electricity on like she said would have been a better welcome to the apartment and considering that I paid around 300LE for the two weeks (less than £5/$5/E5) I do feel this cost could be absorbed into the rental cost. There were no English speaking TV channels upon arrival, when I contacted the agent she just said she didn't know as she hadn't tried the TV, I didn't find this response reasonable. When I contacted the owner via Booking.

Compound: This is my first time staying in Sunny Lakes and unfortunately I could NOT recommend it. It is supposed to be one of the more luxurious compounds in Sharm but I didn't find that. I found it dirty and unkempt. There was sour milk in cartons on the hall (on many of the days - people kindly trying to feed the cats but they hadn't ventured upstairs and found it, so left to go stale and not removed) and on one occasions faeces (I'm assuming cat) on the stairwell, not exactly what you want when heading to the pool! I found the poolside and pool itself to be dirty. I could not walk on the floor bare foot as it was very dirty, dirty marks on the ground, cigarette ends, bottle caps, chicken bones, on occasion plastic cartons from food. It also smelt very bad. This is people being dirty but the compound didn't seem to maintain the area often enough, if at all. The pool guard spent more time on his mobile phone or playing with his water bottle. He did not enforce rules of the pool, which are clearly displayed. It was Eid during our stay and so there were a lot of Egyptian families visiting, children left unattended at the pool, eating food in the pool, spitting in/around the pool, diving, having no regard for other users (banging into on inflatables/ diving in close to others small children). The pool itself was also dirty, stuff on the bottom (looked suspect) and often foliage/rubbish floating in it. In my second week I did see them hoover the bottom once and on occasion use the net to sweep the top of the water, but not regularly maintained (maybe an issue due to Eid). I've been travelling/living in Egypt for 10 years and never been ill but on this occasion became quite unwell with what turned out to be Shigella (whilst not proven, the UK health dept. think this was potentially transmitted by dirty water).

"Sunny lakes resort valutazione e Consigli x chi a intenzione di fare 1 buona Vacanza."

10.0
