The shepherd’s hut was dainty, a charming little retreat that had character, and a comfortable bed!

It was let down by a noticeable layer of fine dust, cobwebs, a build up of residue on the plate drainer that has clearly accumulated over time, and dishes that were stained. It suggested the hut hadn’t been cleaned as thoroughly as expected before our arrival. We were also disappointed to find that the BBQ advertised in the listing was missing which was a letdown as we’d planned to cook outdoors (the owner apologiesd and said the listing would be amended accordingly) Another thing to note is that the hut is located directly next to a gravel driveway (leading to houses) and a public footpath/field, so we encountered a steady stream of dog walkers & the odd vehicle. Unfortunately, this did mean the occasional nosey passer-by peering in, which impacted the sense of privacy we were hoping for.

"Perfect and very reasonable price"

9.0

Good location 15 min from a nice pub - very quiet at night - everything supplied like fresh milk and coffee grounds with cafetière etc - comfy bed

Only one thing would be a sun shade our umbrella for the outside area - it was very hot when I stayed and bit of a sun trap

"Lovely cute hut, everything was good, milk in the fridge on arrival and perfect for our night away."

Very clean and tidy, instructions were good and lovely shower , perfect for our night away

Only thing I would say it’s because of the extreme heat it was very hot in the hut so a fan would have been perfect.

"Nice stay, but put off by the lack of cleanliness, the mildew, and the overwhelming fusty smell."

5.0

Cute little Shepard's Hut in a quiet, green location. Good facilities - small hob, fridge, microwave, crockery, utensils, washing up liquid and cloths, tea, coffee, sugar, TV, shower, etc. Nice, friendly pub a short walk away.

Cleanliness - on the surface, the hut is swept, the bathroom and kitchen have been wiped over, and the sheets are clean, etc. However, the place needs a deep clean to remove dust, dirt and mildew. The dust on the bed frame was disgusting, the fairy lights were covered in a thick layer of dust, the chairs were dusty and dirty, the window sill was covered in dead flies and dust, the corners of the bathroom/shower were dirty and had mildew growth, the main door to the hut had mildew growing in the corners and grooves, there was grated cheese from someone else's lunch on the table under the mats when we arrived, and the smell of mildew was overpowering.
