Apartamentos Castillo Mar Gran Canaria

The owner, Sr Juan, is a wonderful person, and, translated, my Scandinavian name is also Juan. We two elderly gentlemen had a very nice chat, when I arrived. The apartment consists of a living room/kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. The living room has several big windows, and in the distance you can see the sea. The apartment is spotlessly clean and equipped with absolutely everything you can think of. Open all the cupboards and drawers, and you will not miss one thing. I also appreciated that, when I asked, Sr Juan, went back to his flat to get a beach towel for me. Sr Juan even thinks of building an elevator in the house, though there are only two floors. ----- One word about Castillo del Romeral: When you arrive, you might question whether this is the right place. The area around the village is flat, a little faceless, and there are many big wind turbines. Yet, when you are there, it is a nice village, with houses painted in various colours, a lovely park with a playing ground for kids, and paved beach promenade. Do not miss visiting the 'maritime park', a neighbourhood initiative with sculptures and, when I was there, Christmas decorations. There are many benches on the stony beach. When the trees planted there will have grown, the view of a disused building and fishery plant will be blocked. There is a also a small sandy beach at the other end of the bay. Nothing to write home about, but you can have a swim in the morning. I also liked the friendliness of everybody in the supermarket, the fantastic 'Salinas' restaurant, less than five minutes from the apartment. People on the streets exchange a 'hello' with visitors (few tourists). God, what a difference to Playa de Amadores, where I spent half a day! Not even half a meter between the sunbeds or bodies, some folk without manners shouting loudly. Most horrible experience. Playa de Mogan and San Agustin seem to be a little more quiet.

Absolutely nothing.

A very comfortable stay in a larger coastal village. They have practically everything accessible on foot: shop, beach, bus station, restaurants... Parking is on the street and you always get it. The furniture is like new, everything is very nicely furnished and there is a lot of space. Everything worked flawlessly, enough equipment in the kitchen, all the utensils for cooking, washing dishes. Soap, shampoo, shower gel in the bathroom... The apartment is on the first floor, accessible by stairs. There is enough space in the apartment for a family of 4. The owner is very friendly and caring. He lives a few blocks away.

Wonderful stay in Juan's apartment. So close to the sea. Lovely quite location. Juan was an absolute gentleman and very kindly brought us to the airport for our flight home. The apartment was spotless. 👌👌

The only negative thing is lack of public transport so probably a better option if you have a car, or don't mind walking to the main bus route (20 mins). Travelled with my parents and my mum is a bit restricted with walking. Buses into maspalomas were rare but did run daily.

This was a perfect apartment in a perfect, peaceful location with a beach lido where we swam everyday, along with a convenient selection of stores, shops and restaurants within a short distance. We rented a car and it was so convient to get around the island from this location. Plus we also caught the local bus into Los Palmes which took about an hour Juan was an excellent host and communicator, showed us around on the first day and gave us some great tips, and came to say goodbye on the last day. Thank you Juan!

Having to leave for home on the last day! Seriously could not fault this apartment, we'll be here again.

Apartment is fully furnished, has all amenities. Very comfortable and quiet. Juan was very nice and helpful.

The property sits just a few minutes walk to the beach, super market, play grounds and restaurants and it’s nestled in a quant little town where it seems time slowed down and people sit around and actually talk to each other in the squares, park benches and opened garages. Juan is not only an amazing host, he will be a life long friend to us! Enjoy your stays as much as we did👍🏻💯
