Extraordinary Huts Ltd

Booked this last minute as our daughter was away and we wanted to go away for a night just the two of us — somewhere not too far from home (as it was just overnight) that a, would take dogs and, b, was a bit different… This was perfect. We loved the location, the hut (ours was called The Hut), the tranquility, the nearby pub (very friendly staff and VERY nice food), which is just a five/ten minute walk away through fields. Would definitely recommend/return — though we’d probably try one of the slightly larger huts next time: with two big dogs and us, The Hut felt a little cramped. But it’s a lovely space and we really enjoyed our stay. Listening to the sheep in the evening/morning was amazing. And although there are several other huts on the site, each one feels very secluded. You need to take toiletries (I’d also advise taking an eye mask — the curtains definitely aren’t blackout!) but towels are provided, and the huts fit a lot into a small space.

These are minor gripes but our pillows were really hard! Like trying to sleep on an over-inflated lilo! Halfway through the night, I swapped mine for one from one of the single beds, and it was much nicer. Also, we locked the hut door from the inside overnight and struggled to get out in the morning. At one point my husband was going to try climbing through the window to see if he could open it from the outside! Luckily, I managed to sort it — but it took about 5 minutes of key-wrangling… However, as I say, minor gripes! Oh, and the only other thing — despite very explicit directions, our sat nav didn’t quite like the postcode, so we spent a while trying to find the turn. A small sign on the gate would have really helped!

The location was absolutely breathtaking, and the outside fire and seating made for a gorgeous say. The space was cute and cosy, and the beds were nice and comfy.

There were two USB charging ports, but only one of them seemed to have any power. The power when charging devises was also very weak (10% over 8 hours). If we knew this, we would have brought portable chargers with us. Also, the kitchen was lacking a few things we thought would be essential- oil for cooking, coffee for the cafetiere, and only 3 wine glasses when the property could house 4.

It’s a little gem

So much to love here - the wood burning stove was cosy, kitchen has everything you need, comfortable bed and the local pub (The Plough) has a delicious menu!

Not a negative necessarily but just something for others to be aware of - we took our dog and whilst the accommodation allows dogs, the outside area isn’t enclosed and there are sheep grazing in the next field. We didn’t have an issue but if you have a dog who likes to wander off and/or is likely to be reactive to the sheep then will need to keep them on the lead / away from the fences.

Beautiful little hut and views, we absolutely loved it,so pieceful and even though the weather wasn't great we still had an amazing time. When we first got there we couldn't get the hot water to work,so we rang the number that was given and within 10 minutes a very friendly gentleman came and fixed it for us,then he even offered to cut some wood for us to use on the bbq./fire,..really great, friendly hosts... We will definitely be going back 😀
