Casa di Melo - Organic Country Hotel

Das Hotel ist wunderschön gelegen mit einer tollen Anlage, überall Blumen und ruhige Ecken zum verweilen. Das Essen war sehr, sehr gut und so toll, dass alles vegetarisch oder sogar vegan ist. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und hat immer gerne Tipps gegeben. Wir hatten auch am Kochkurs teilgenommen, der sehr interessant und sympathisch gemacht war. Die Lage ist super für Ausflüge nach Siracusa/Ortigia, Noto und auch zum Etna.

Wir waren etwas enttäuscht von dem Balkon der Junior Suite, da dieser der Grund war, dass wir die Junior Suite gebucht haben. Zum einen nisteten im Dach während unseres Aufenthalts einige Meisen, weshalb es etwas dreckig war (netterweise wurde extra nochmal geputzt, und wir finden es auch toll, dass den Vögeln der Platz gegeben wird, aber es wurde halt schnell wieder verschmutzt). Enttäuschender fand ich vor allem, dass die Privatsphäre gefehlt hat, da zur einen Seite der Balkon offen ist und dort das zweite Gebäude mit Fenstern weiterer Zimmer und der Parkplatz liegen. Dort hätte man einfach mit ein paar Pflanzen mehr Sichtschutz schaffen können und der Balkon wäre insgesamt weniger kahl. Zur anderen Seite liegt der Balkon des Nachbarzimmers abgetrennt durch ein paar Pflanzen, aber sehr durchsichtig.

Zwei kleine Details: Sitzplatz ist nach hinten raus nicht gemütlich, könnte man optimieren. Das Zimmer konnte nicht vollständig abgedunkelt werden. Ansonsten tolles Zimmer.

Exceptionally friendly and professional staff. Beautiful surroundings with a wonderful mix of fruit trees, palm trees, and olive trees that create a relaxing atmosphere. The swimming pool is fantastic, and the cozy interiors add to the charm of the property. In the evenings, the outdoor spaces add a lovely ambiance that makes it a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the peaceful setting.

Small and noisy room - The standard room Carrot was very small (18 sq. meters) and located directly next to the reception area. Although the property itself is a peaceful oasis, the room was not well soundproofed. Noise from guests passing by and staff working nearby could be heard until midnight and again early in the morning, which affected negatively the overall comfort and tranquility of the stay. The Wi-Fi connection was unreliable throughout our stay. The signal did not reach our room and was also unavailable in several outdoor areas, including spaces close to the reception. According to the staff, this is an issue that occurs from time to time. The breakfast was enjoyable, but compared with the quality of the hotel, it felt somewhat underwhelming. A few items, such as the fruit salad, avocado, and focaccia, could be enhanced to better reflect the high standards found throughout the rest of the property. The organic homemade jams and marmalades were exceptional though.

We stayed at Casa di Melo as part of our honeymoon and had a truly special time there. The property is beautiful, with a lovely, thoughtfully designed garden and a pool that was a real highlight. Even when fully booked, the space never felt crowded, as everything is spread out so well across the grounds. We also really loved the option of booking an afternoon picnic in the garden, which made an afternoon by the pool feel even more special. But this is also a great home base if you want to visit nearby Syracusa/Ortigia and the Noto Valley (one day, we went to Noto in the morning and Ortigia in the evening and still had time to relax by the pool in the afternoon). Breakfast was generous and delicious, with a great selection of fresh, regional vegetarian dishes that could be freely combined to your liking. What made us feel especially comfortable was the wonderful and attentive staff. We were always looked after with great care, including fresh cold water throughout the day, and they made us feel truly at home. The room service was also excellent: whenever we returned after breakfast, the room was fresh and spotless. The room itself was beautifully designed, very quiet, and the beds were extremely comfortable. We are very grateful for such a lovely and relaxing stay and would absolutely recommend Casa di Melo for a couples’ getaway.
