The best breakfast we ever had during our journey. Self-made products from the alentejo, various jams, hams, cakes, juice, bread and cakes, fruits. The hosts were absolutely friendly and helpful, always wishing to make our stay as good as possible, always helpful with tips what to visit. Perfectly located for a visit of portalegre.

The location was excellent as well as the breakfast. The host family is so helpful and friendly. They went to great lengths to make sure that we were comfortable. They provided a lot of information about the area, and made us feel right at home.

Very good location, a fantastic breakfast, easy parking and very friendly hosts. I wish we could have stayed longer but we will probably go back another time.

Maybe a second option for the satnav. We could not find the first address as an option, but it was solved easily when the host gave us a second address.

We had an amazing and unique stay, the family went over and above to make us comfortable. The breakfast was all locally sourced and delicious home make cakes and preserves prepared by Maria.

This is not a stay this is a wonderful experience in the history for Portugal. One night is not enough to take in all that the house has to offer. And the hosts how have live here their entire lives are so welcoming and informative. If you are in this area do not miss this place.

Solar das Avencas is a mansion from the 18th century, now a private residence and small guest house. The rooms are elegant; the breakfast, plentiful and delicious; our hosts, very kind and accomodating.

Friendliness of Antonio, superb old world decor, fantastic breakfast with many home made treats and meeting the family. Best accommodation of entire holiday.

What a Beautiful place, like a museum with all the furniture and silverwork, and such nice people, and the breakfast whas fabulous! My deaply respect!

We absolutely loved everything about this stop along our adventurous route through Portugal. The history in this home was beyond what was expected and the time with the family members just added to that experience. Breakfast was over the top as there was more than we needed and absolutely delicious. You definitely felt like you were special and your choice to stay in their home was so appreciated. If you have an adventurous spirit, than this place is something you'll want to experience.

We definitely don't mean for this to sound negative as beds are a specific preference for everyone, especially as you get on in years. So to be fair, the accommodations were quite adequate for the authenticity of this property. We've just grown accustomed to a certain bed type and these were different than what we were used to. We expect these things to happen when we're travelling and it certainly was an easy trade-off in comparison to what we experienced.
