The view

The apartment was very cold and damp. We did laundry after arriving, and even after almost two days some clothes were still not fully dry, despite placing the drying rack next to portable heaters. Three portable heaters were provided, but using them caused the fuses to trip (the fuse box is not located inside the apartment). To be fair, the issue was fixed quite quickly. The dampness was noticeable throughout the stay — the bedding felt damp, and even our phone screens were fogged up in the mornings, which clearly shows how much moisture there was in the apartment. When I say cold, I mean genuinely cold — we are used to cold winters, so if it felt cold to both me and my husband, that says something. It might be fine in summer, but not in cooler seasons. Additionally, the glass door did not feel very comfortable or private; it would be much better if it were properly covered. We were already planning to change locations and are glad we stayed only two nights. Unfortunately, we would not choose to stay here again.

Dass die Hosts im Vorfeld sehr freundlich auf den Wunsch nach möglichst duftneutraler Bettwäsche eingegangen sind, war sehr nett und hat uns sehr gefreut. Der Willkommensgruß mit Spezialitäten Madeiras (Kekse und Kuchen, Wein).

Wir waren im Winter da, unsere negative Erfahrung bezieht sich auf unser persönliches Erleben, evtl iwirkt der „Charme eines Kellerappartments auf einer Bergspitze im Sommer anders… Für uns war es gelinde gesagt ein kl Schock als wir die Whg gesehen haben: Die untere Wohnung (mit 2 Schlafzimmern und insg 5 Schlafplätzen) ist sehr dunkel und zugig. Es war Feuchtigkeit an dem Fenster in einem der Schlafzimmer, aufgrund baubedingten Wärme /Kälte-Brücken (oder eines Wasserschadens?). Der angepriesene Meerblick war nur von den Schlafzimmern aus zu sehen, die in den Berg gehauen sind und fast auf Strassenhöhe der Serpentinenstrasse (viele Motorräder…). Der Blick, mit dem das Haus als Ganzes beworben wird, ist nur von den oberen Appartments (mit Terrasse und / oder Balkon) aus zu sehen.

The only positive side was us was the view and the space inside the apartment. Another star goes for the washing machine that was very useful.

Never stay here in December. The apartment has heating in the description but actually the manager provided only two old small electric radiators. Given the huge space in the living room and the location up the hill it was very cold (16-17 degrees) inside even with the radiators on. We got sick after staying there 2 days. The apartment smells of mold in most kitchen cabinets and it’s not well isolated and windy (you can hear the wind at night). Don’t recommend to stay here in winter. The manager did not apologize for the lack of basic services and seemed annoyed when we asked after one day for another heater. It was a very bad experience for us and we left early. She did not offer even a partial refund and kept saying “2 radiators are enough” while we had to stay in the living room with jackets on.

We had a really fantastic view and that's what it makes this place something special. We loved to sit on the balcony! There is parking available and plenty of space in the apartment. Heating was available which was fine for the first night.

The kitchen could be better equipped (as usual: sharp knifes, missing cutting board ...). No personal contact, communication via email, whatsapp...

Tolle Wohnung mit fantastischen Blick über Porto Moniz. Das Küchenequipment war etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber ausreichend. Da das Wetter kalt war haben die 2 E-Öfen gute Dienste geleistet.

Der Ofen - der ganz neu war passt nicht in die dafür gesehene Auskerbung - mussten improvisieren, da die Pfannen immer schief standen.
