A good location between Bari and Matera. Friendly owners, interesting historic estate and v delicious evening meal using local produce.

A food-lover’s paradise. Our memory of Storica Pilapalucci will be the extraordinary food! Chef Francesco’s set 4 course evening meals gave us the opportunity to sample all the local foods, from pastas to meats to cheeses and deserts. Everything was creative and delicious. Eating outside in a quiet corner for one of our meals was just lovely. The masseria itself is very welcoming, but it should be noted that it’s not a hotel. It’s an agrotourism stay, so no reception, lounge or sunbeds around the pool. Just an ‘off grid’ low key, chilled place to spend a few nights and explore the wider area.

Outside seating areas (terraces and pool area) need a bit of care. They are lovely places to sit on a lovely evening, but not comfortable or inviting.

We spent 5 days at Masseria Storica Pilapalucci during our vacation in Puglia with our kids, and it was absolutely fantastic. The farm, surrounded by a vast olive and almond orchard, is steeped in history and offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle. We booked two rooms—one for ourselves and one for the kids. Our room, “Forno”, was a blend of historical architecture and modern comforts, ensuring a pleasant stay. Both rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The place can only be accessed by car, but with GPS and clear signage from the highway towards Torrito, it’s easy to find. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the incredible hospitality. The hosts were attentive and thoughtful, preparing special vegan meals during our fasting days without us having to mention it. They also gave us excellent recommendations on places to visit, enhancing our experience in Puglia. Chef Francesco’s creations were a culinary delight. Every dish, from the “Pesto al Mandorle” to the almond dessert, lamb chops, and pasta, was extraordinary. The emphasis on local, natural ingredients elevated the dining experience, complemented by a great selection of wines. Our kids enjoyed exploring the open spaces, which provided them with plenty of entertainment. The hosts' warm and welcoming attitude made it a memorable stay for the entire family. The farm's history, spanning 500 years within the same family, added a fascinating dimension to our stay. In summary, Masseria Storica Pilapalucci provided an unforgettable and enriching experience. Our whole family highly recommends this place to anyone visiting Puglia.

This is a proper farm stay, quirky and characterful. The amazing food was the highlight of the stay. Beautifully presented and using authentic local ingredients both breakfast and dinner were a real treat. The restaurant and public space of the Masseria are renovated to be very true to the era of the property and are lovely. The hosts and staff were without exception friendly and welcoming.

The outside spaces would benefit from a little investment. There is a lack of comfortable furniture and sunshades etc so nowhere to sit. The pool also did not look very clean or inviting. Having said that we did enjoy our stay here.

Our stay at Masseria Storica Pilapalucci was simply marvelous, from the kindness of our hosts to the loveliness of the farm. However, the highlight is truly the incredible food that we enjoyed throughout our visit. You must enjoy the extraordinary cuisine. I still dream of some of our dinners there! I will always make this my home base the next time I am traveling in Puglia!

The firm mattress caused me to have back pain, but I am someone who tends to love very soft beds, so this might be more a matter of personal preference. However, it was a minor flaw compared to how wonderful everything else was.

During our week of work we had the chance to spend a week and be hosted in one of the best places of the area. The Masseria is absolutely a pearl surrounded by the green of olives, almonds, and apricot trees. The team and the service is fantastic. What we loved more where the dinners. The food from the chef it remind us the flavours of the land that sourrounds this part of Puglia. Authentic.
