The little cottage

The location is easy to reach and very quiet given that it was right next to a main road. Whilst we never got to meet our human hosts, the real star was the feline host, an absolute star of a cat called William who was beyond friendly and spent the evening with us. The heater was a godsend as we happened to be there just as a cold spell hit.

There is only a kettle and micro fridge, so a microwave would have been nice and perhaps better blinds/curtains to keep the dawn out for those who sleep a bit later...

This farmstay was perfect for a cosy, picturesque short-term stay. We'd definitely stay here again. I recommend it for couples or individuals looking for a relaxing place that's simple yet tastefully decorated to capture that cottage look. Hosts were friendly and responsive to messages. View was stunning. Bed was super comfy, room was surprisingly warm (wore summer sleepwear despite it being autumn) and the heater worked well. If more food space is needed, kitchen bench folds out and the towel stand holds it up at the right height. Outdoor bath was a treat. Bit of car noise during the day as expected but it's quiet at night. Unless you bring a portable gas cooker, you may buy food out a lot because there's no heating facilities for cooking. If it rained, it'd be less pleasant because the outdoor dining is not sheltered and there's only one chair inside. These aren't negatives because this info is stated/shown in the accommodation description/photos, but they are things to consider if choosing this place to stay.

If I booked a warehouse to store my luggage, it would be ok. Unfortunately, It was for me to stay in. Not good at all. Dirty and smelly bedding, some insect living there.

The bed was comfy.

The cottage was hard to find when I arrived, access was dark and not clear. The door didn't shut properly and was difficult to latch. There are no blinds, with only sheers on the windows it did not feel private at all. And nothing stopping the light in the morning. There was alot of road noise especially in the early hours of the morning making it quite difficult to sleep. The shower area is tiny and difficult to dress in, especially as it's the only private place to dress.

the view was awesome both mornings i got a coffee and sat outside and enjoyed the view, if you sit up in bed you can watch the sunrise

The sheets had not been changed and smelt of sweaty feet we had to remove the top sheet and hang the bottom one on the door to try and get rid of the smell! i do not want people NOT to book as this was probably just a one off. I do not think it is the owners fault. she is obviously paying a cleaner and not getting what she paid for as the coffee pot still had dead coffee in the bottom. It was still a great place to stay, we have been using Booking.com and travelling NZ for the 16 years we have lived hear and this place is still in the top ten places we have stayed.
