Agriturismo Barcola

For us this was a fantastic 2 day stay which revolved around the restaurant on site. The meals were the best; simple ingredients cooked to perfection - nothing deconstructed here, just extremely tasty food with good wines alongside. The rooms were rustic and comfortable. The hosts were very welcoming. The place certainly deserves its agriturismo designation for its location and friendly farm house feel. Great base from which to enjoy Lake Como if you have a car.

The property is about 2km from Menaggio. We walked down into town on the path that runs by the property and then took a bus back up the hill.

Wi-Fi doesn't always work

- Plenty of parking space (in the sun), can be mostly taken by random restaurant guests. - There is working AC but it is VERY noisy

This is a restaurant with a few extra rooms they rent. That is it. It is very much not an agritourismo, as there are no visible or accessible or apparant activity of such. It has a very sad and depressing vibe. Fake plastic flowers on the windows of the rooms and a few chickens in cages for children to look at and a small horse, and some scared cats. Nothing is going on beside the restaurant business where all the women work and the men all sit quietly in the kitchen looking sad. Breakfast was incredibly lacking. Extremely basic. They do have chickens but no eggs were served at all... The room was very small and lacking. The place is in a small valley of their own so there is absolutely no view from the rooms or restaurant. I have been hosted by many places across Italy, and this one is by far the worst in terms of friendliness and value-for-money. A huge disappointed. We were deeply sad having to spend our vacation in such a place

Rustic guesthouse in very nice hillside farm setting. Very scenic and peaceful. Good restaurant onsite - great food.

Rigid checkout time, no one on site to process checkout prior to 9am. Internet connection was not reliable.

Very helpful owners. We arrived late in a thunderstorm . The restaurant was closed that day but the owner very kindly made us up a ham and cheese plate. There are just 2 rooms to let. Ours was full of character with traditional furniture. The breakfast was delicious , and included fresh fruit salad and bread,ham and cheese, yoghurt, croissants, jam and honey. Everyone was friendly. Outside there are chickens, donkeys and other animals. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed on the days we were there but it is v popular and well priced. We would definitely stay here again.

We wanted to visit Menaggio, because it has many walks nearby, such as the Greenway, and in the Parco Val Sanagra. We were grateful to find a room available at Agriturismo Barcola at the last minute, because it's minutes away from Lake Como by car, and Grandola ed Uniti borders the Parc Val Sanagra. Many thanks for a wonderful stay!
