Agriturismo La Ghiraia

Undoubtedly, both the town and the grounds of the resort were very clean, well-organized and peaceful (but you definitely need a car as shops, sea and restaurants - despite one small bar - are far away from it). A big plus was the separate spaces for guests by their apartments (each has its own table and chairs) and the excellently maintained, clean swimming pool, also with comfortable seating. Another positive was the on-site parking. The room itself, although maintained to a rather average standard, was nice and quiet. Even with high occupancy, it is very pleasant and peaceful (mainly German families, who are rather disciplined).

And now the negatives: the first was the refusal to allow a car with luggage to enter the apartment, although there were conditions for this (and some guests took advantage of this, but I received a refusal from the owner). The owner also does not speak a word in a language other than Italian, which is frustrating and makes any contact difficult (and there was very little of it - the owners seem to be completely uninterested in their guests - ok, I understand, but I did not felt very comfortable as a guest). The apartment, although generally well-equipped, did not include a set of household appliances, listed in the offer - there was no electric kettle. When I asked (with the help of Google Translate) about the lack of one, the owner looked through the cabinets and said I could boil it in a pot. Ok, so I did, but what was the problem with buying a kettle that was clearly missing for a few euros? Unfortunately, the plumbing system was also terrible - the old and poorly functioning shower faucets did not allow for a comfortable shower, from which either hot or cold water poured. The smell of sewage often came in through the windows. Another huge minus was the (expected) lack of air conditioning. In this climate, this should be standard and unfortunately the rooms were very hot despite the shade (but as I wrote, I was aware of this when booking). One last thing: I know that Italians are a family nation, but the screams and rallies of the children of the owners' family at night were quite bothersome... I hope that this opinion will help the owners to improve.

This agriturisimo is located at a beautiful place! The appartments are in good condition, there is a very nice pool and the rest of the property is well maintained. Very nice place for a (short) holiday!

When we arrived, a lady (she is probably the owner?) welcomed us in a very unfriendly manner. She insisted she needed the name of the apartment we booked, but there was no name mentioned in any of the reservation documents we received. She just stood there being unhelpful, not trying to check her own administration at all or try to say one word in English. 'No, I need a name!'. After a while, she just brought us to an apartment, which we think she knew we had booked anyway (no one else arrived that night). She was also very unfriendly when we asked her if we could park the car a little closer to the apartment, just to unload our stuff. In Italian; 'No! And you only have 10 minutes where your car is now!'. It all just felt really unwelcoming after a long drive... after many years booking at booking.com, we never had such an unwelcoming host. When we left after a few days, someone else came to us to say goodbye (we think her daughter). She was way more friendly. Because of that, our review of our stay is a little bit more positive.

Quaint little town close to the ocean with great views. Be sure to speak some Italian. Though most people in the town are very friendly. The owners produce pasta of great quality.

Thin walls. Clean towels, laundry cost extra and this isn’t clearly mentioned. Be prepared to pay extra $$$.

Hosts were a mixed bag. The woman who seems to be running the show, first took a while to find our booking, then the room was not cleaned so she upgraded us. She was nice! Then check out was dreadful, soured the whole experience, which already was a bit rough... The Mum of the family was so rude and needlessly difficult. Commanding us in Italian to remove all trash into bins outside the property, which no one showed us or told us about. Bins are marked in Itallian so go figure. Note - I booked a suite to get real beds and for no one in my family to have to sleep on a fold out - but to no avail. Also note - on hot months, there is no aircon, and no flysceens on the windows. We had to ask for mosquito repalent ( which they did provide) and an extra fan are we were a family, in 35 degree days, and not able to open the window, trying to share a single fan was a bit much...

Nice location

The host charged us 20EUR/hour for late check-in, which was not in the conditions, it was added after our arrival. The description of the accommodation states that they have a 24/7 reception, and when we sent them a message that we would be late, they came up with this charge... ridiculous... After we arrived and paid the fee (it was reduced from 80 to 50... ) the host was very unfriendly, making us feel unwelcome. Please also note that the photos you can see when booking each apartment are not real photos, for the ground floor apartment (which is more UNDERground) there is a photo of the terrace under the roof, which does not belong to the apartment... (real photo attached). Also not having mosquito nets in a mosquito-infested area doesn't make any sense...
