Sete Quintas

Carlos hat sich hier seinen Traum erfüllt und diesen mit uns geteilt. Ein altes, mit viel Arbeit aufgebautes Mühlengebäude. Alles sehr ruhig am kleinen Fluss neben dem Anwesen. Wir haben den Pool mit den Liegen sehr genossen. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet, alles regional frisch und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Nicht verpassen darf man ein von Carlos und seiner Frau zubereitetes Abendessen! Das Essen war exzellent! Tolle Vorspeisenplatte, traumhaft zart geschmortes Fleisch und alles aus dem eigenen Garten, sogar die Brunnenkresse aus dem Fluss. -Sensationell- Dazu den passenden Wein, Apperetiv........ Carlos gab uns noch wertvolle Tipps für die Weiterreise.

We have had a wonderful three week holiday in Portugal, staying in a variety of lovely places from the southern coast to the northern border. But of all those lovely places, Sete Quintas truly won our hearts. By rebuilding several abandoned stone buildings that had housed flour mills and an olive mill on property bordering a small river, adding gardens, olive and fruit trees, and a swimming pool, the owner, Carlos, has created a gem of peaceful tranquillity and natural beauty. We stayed in a small stone cottage - living room, bedroom, bathroom, very comfortable and all beautifully furnished and decorated - right beside the river, relaxing to the sound of the water. Delicious breakfasts were served in the lovely dining room in the main building just across the stone courtyard, where we also enjoyed delicious dinners, including excellent wine from a friend’s vineyard in the Douro Valley and olive oil made from Sete Quintas’s own olives. The owners made us feel so welcome and right at home; Carlos was very helpful with information about the area. This is a great location for exploring Coimbra and the ancient ruins at Conimbriga.

Found nothing to dislike.

How can one define 'serenity'? natural beauty? warm, home-like, hospitality? The minute you enter the beautiful compound of the house, the moment you meet Carlos and Marisol, something in you relaxes and tones down. The house is beautiful, it literally sits on the banks of a river, the sound of streaming water, and the renovated farm that was turned into a hospitality place is simply inspiring. The room is cozy and comfortable. Carlos and Marisol are beautiful human beings; they give you full privacy but are there whenever you need something. And they so happily share info, whether about your trip plans, about the place, about cooking, about anything. Their cooking is great, accompanied by wines from private wineries that work with Carlos on a personal friendship basis. It's a treat. We enjoyed their company so much. I couldn't recommend it enough.

We loved everything. I would say that the pictures published do not fully reflect the real beauty of the place. Dinner was great, though it might not suit everybody's budget (40 Euros per person)

O sítio é só maravilhoso. Estávamos a precisar de desligar do mundo e estar em família no meio da natureza e foi o que encontrámos. Todos super queridos e simpáticos até os animais❤️. O quarto/casa onde ficámos era maravilhoso. Adormecer a ouvir a água e os pássaros. Iremos voltar sem dúvida

The small stone houses were really lovely. Since the creek is next to houses, you could always hear the water. The pool was quite big and a welcoming refreshment during the day! The breakfast was great with homemade cake, fresh fruits, eggs, etc. The owner gave us very good tips what to explore in the area!
