Watermill Ocean View Luxury Family Retreat

The pool is a decent size and well maintained. You also have it all to yourself which is awesome! Interiors are well maintained and it has the basics for the kitchen… microwave, kettle, bar fridge, toaster and 2 plate gas hob. The bathroom was nice and clean and it has a loo with a view. Kim was very friendly but also respected our privacy and would alert me if anyone would be coming onto the property. She responded swiftly to queries and was always available and a quick WhatsApp msg away. MRD, Checkers and Woolworths delivers to the property so no need to pack lots of groceries… I would advise against taking lots of perishables as there’s only a bar fridge. They catered to everything we could need even supplying doom for the mosquitoes and flies!! (Its under the kitchen sink) I only discovered it on the second day. Thank you Kim for opening up your home.

Nothing major just think that the kitchen appliances could do with a bit of an upgrade and if they had an airfryer it would have been so much more convenient especially for those of us that don’t use gas regularly and then have ocd moments and keep checking to ensure its turned off 🫣… but these weren’t deal breakers and you always have the option of ordering food online.

The accommodation was wonderful. The scenery was phenomenal. We loved it. We relaxed and had a wonderful stay

I'm sad to write this review, as this is the first time in my years of travel that I have experienced such bad service from a host and misrepresentation of accommodation, SO BAD that I had to book out the place!! I booked 3 nights at Watermill Studios, based on the reviews, price and photos as per Booking.com. I arrived around 17.00, to find an almost inaccessible dirt road to the premises, damaging my vehicle. Walking into the unit, I was welcomed with a terrible musty smell, part of the veranda's roof missing, no internet (with internet advertised - I need it for my work) and worst of all, no key to lock the door. The furniture is worn, but I could live with that.. I contacted Kim a few days later and after agreeing not to involve Booking.com and to settle this issue privately to avoid a bad review, Kim agreed to pay back the amount "So I have thought about your suggestion and I will send you the amount that will be paid out to me! R1791.63. I am not prepared to pay you the full refund but a portion! You only paid R680 per night but expected a 5 star hotel. ". She continued to mention: "Re the key for the unit..things happen in life like guests breaking a key and unfortunately the lock smith could only repair it a day later! ( I am sure not everything is repaired Immediately in your home). The road..I drive a small vw and it has no problem traveling up the road..i cannot help it if we had severe storms which damaged the road and we now have to wait for the municipality to repair it. The storms were literally a few days before you arrived. This is a farm stay NOT a 5 star hotel." I'm STILL waiting for 11 days now for the refund, following up every day, but she just ignores all whatsapps and no payment! SO SAD!!
