This was the most authentic aspect of our entire trip to Japan. If you're looking to get outside the big cities and see a part of Japan that most tourists probably don't see, this would be a great stop for you. If you plan it in advance, you can add a tea ceremony and picking the nearby vegetables. We didn't have time, but I would have loved to help with the rice cultivation.

We had a short but sweet stay at Furumaya House, the Japanese home cooking by Sayaka-san is absolutely delicious, the hamburger steak is to die for. The rice is home grown and the other ingredients are locally sourced. We also really enjoyed the home made umeju, must try if you visit! If you are looking for a homey/cozy place to stay with great home cooking look no where else. Would definitely come and stay again to experience the area in depth next time!

Homecooked meals were delicious using fresh ingredients from the farm. Nicolas and Sayaka are very good hosts, very engaging, sincere and warm. Enjoyed talking to them, and hearing their stories. Place is clean, cosy and well kept in a lovely countryside.

It will be good to let guests know the early check-in cost.

Lovely hosts, great (vegetarian option) food, quiet remote location close enough to a city, hot bath....its hard to put it all in words...it was everything great into the smallest detail and great value for money!
