Casa do Batista

Easily reached, some 2 km from the exit (Lamego) of the highway A24. Good location to visit the Douro valley (Lamego, Regua, Pinhao) where you can visit many vineyards and take a boat on the Douro. Porto is about an hour and a half's ride away by car. The house is clean and rather large with two floors. The lower floor has a kitchen with all necessary utensils, four electric cooking plates and an oven. There's a large table there and also a coach and tv. In front there's a terrace with a smaller table again where you can have breakfast under the roof of grape vines growing through the pergola. The house is rather high up the hills of Britiande and you have a splendid view on the surrounding area. Just in front of the terrace there's an orchard and vegetables garden. You may walk through this orchard, but there's no grass, so with kids they can't easily play outside just in front of the house. Upstairs there is a small bathroom with a small bath, but clean and comfortably. Also two bedrooms, one master bedroom for the parents and then a slightly smaller one with two separate beds for the kids. Both bedrooms are large enough with enough cupboards. Then there's also a room with a television and coach again, which is very nice in the evening. Next to that room you can go outside on the first floor terrace. In the morning the sun is shining right there so that room during the day is probably too hot, but you can sit downstairs where it is always colder. The house is clean and all basic necessary items are available, including a dishwasher and washing machine. The swimming pool is, as you may have read in other reviews, not next to the house, but actually some 100 metres away, next to the house of the owner's sister. It's available exclusively for the vacation house, so you're all alone there and, given that it is slightly uphill from the house, has an even better view.

The house itself is very good and not expensive. The host is very friendly and helpful. A playground for the kids would be nice, I think that would be possible to place next to the swimming pool. And of course it would have been nice were the swimming pool just in front of the house. But the distance to it is not far and the swimming pool itself is large and clean with room around it for the kids to play.
