FIXIE LOFTS - Colonial Villa Suites with Pool

such beautiful decor and ambience, it is like an urban paradise… I’ve always seen this turquoise house from the street and wondered what it was… and when you step inside it is like being transported to a mixture of Cuba and Marrakesh but with an urban industrial New York - Mexico interior … the tiles and cacti were the best.

as a solo girl, I felt a little scared in that there isn’t a reception but I understood this when I booked it… plus the other guests were really friendly and the location is perfect so it doesn’t feel remote or scary

Our luggage was stolen, there is nobody responsible for the property in Santo Domingo and it was super complicated to get in touch with someone. There are multiple cameras in the property however they do not record. The main door works with a code and was open most of the time, even confirmed with other guests.

The location of the Lofts is fantastic. It is a quiet area but with plenty of restaurant options nearby. The interior design of the building is picture perfect! When I posted it on Instagram, everyone wanted to know where it was. If your stay is long enough you can even go grocery shopping and cook in your loft. Since my stay was short, it was a perfect place to relax and get some peace of mind in the middle of a fun tourist area.

I did not realize that there was no concierge and I don't think that that is clear enough on the home page. The owners were very responsive on Booking messenger and answered my questions quickly. However, if I were a first-time visitor to Santo Domingo, I would prefer a hotel with a concierge that I could easily ask questions to about local sites and restaurants. I have lived and worked in Santo Domingo so I know how to get around but it should be VERY clear on the main page that there is no one on site if you have questions.

Spacious well-lit lofts in the colonial Santo Domingo. Beds and sheets are comfortable with a choice of pillows.

Amenities in the bathrooms should include shampoo an conditionner.

The place is really cool, great design, the room was very good, and the owner very responsive.

the villa looks magnificent and the location is very central This property doesn't provide iron/hairdryer/shampoo, but after several requests they provided me with a hairdryer and shampoo

The property is not a hotel but rather service apartments – it means no cleaning/housekeeping. During the rainy season it's really wet inside and the beddings can't dry, causing smell. The windows are leaking. If you loft on the ground floor, it’s very dark. not a problem if you can walk around, but a problem if you’re staying indoors 8-9h a day during the rain. The curtains are rather short (wide-wise), so if you're on the ground floor, everyone can see your bed, very little privacy
