Beautiful setting in a Karoo landscape - beautiful garden with large expanse of green lawn. Easy to walk around and explore and stretch our legs.

I didnt like that we had to sit with strangers for our dinner. Even though the other people were nice and friendly, it was not relaxing for me after a long day in the car. We sat inside which was very hot and stifling. The staff that greeted us were friendly enough but did not tell us much about the facilities or the eating arrangements or how it all worked. Just that dinner was at a specific time. There was a bar of soap in the bathroom, but no shampoo and the hand cream was practically finished. We had our own so this was OK.

We booked the dinner option as a paid extra at the main guesthouse, which was exceptional. We were unable to join the dinner guests in the dining room, but a take away was arranged for us to enjoy in the pet friendly accommodation/farm house. Great service from Martinette and the rest of the team. The house was a typical old fashioned farm house, with limited amenities, but that was fine for a one night stay.

The description of accommodation is confusing on Booking.com, as there are pet friendly and non-pet friendly accommodation on the same property. This needs to be specified more clearly, as this nearly caused great havoc with our booking. The issue was resolved by super helpful staff at Mieliefontein, and this was much appreciated! But we ended up staying in accommodation that we did not initially book and it was a bit more basic and rustic than what we expected.

We loved it on this working karoo farm. Dinner was extra but well worth it

The room smells of dust The water in the shower isn’t properly regulated (it’s either cold or hot) There is pictures of random people on the walls in the room where we were sleeping The ceiling fans didn’t even make a difference in such a big room, whilst it was extremely warm.

The gardens and staff were excellent

No aircons!

The farm house was such a gem- very clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff was incredible and offered world class service. Highly recommend it.
