ZAEverything. Jakkalswater was exactly what we needed. After roughing it for a week, we arrived tired, mozzy bitten, sunburnt and super dusty. It felt like we had walked into a 5-star hotel. Stylish interiors, quality linen, proper mattresses, decent shower, cool splashpool, beautiful views of a giant moonrock, helpful host and best of all a brand new, 4-day old donkey on the farm! Also - it was the only place on booking.com that catered for a family of 5. As in the "family room" had an actual proper bed for the third child. (not a cot / extra mattress / sleeper couch)
Nothing. Only wish we could've stayed longer. We needed to travel very far the next day so couldn't take any time to meet the newborn baby donkey. :(
DEEine tolle Unterkunft, fĆ¼r unseren Weg in den Norden SĆ¼dafrikas perfekt gelegen. FrĆ¼hstĆ¼ck und Abendessen gibt es dort nicht, dafĆ¼r eine kleine feine KĆ¼che und fĆ¼r uns war es kein Problem uns selbst etwas zu zubereiten. Jedem Zimmer steht ebenfalls ein Grill zur VerfĆ¼gung. Der Inhaber spricht deutsch und ist sehr bemĆ¼ht, dass es seinen GƤsten gut geht. Danke fĆ¼r alles

USJakkalswater is 8km west of the N7, in an isolated country location with a spectacular backdrop of sheer rock. It is far from the bustle of Springbok. Its isolation makes it very safe. Reinhart is an excellent host. They are "off the grid" on solar power, which means they don't have much electrical power at night. I got very cold the first (of 3) nights, and Reinhart kindly provided a portable propane heater that warmed up the room before we went to bed - problem solved. The rooms are very spacious and clean; the kitchenette very functional - restocked every day by housekeeping. During our stay, the other guests we met had a similar adventurous spirit and were fun to meet and talk to. There is a very friendly black cat and a lovely dog in case one needs more company. Meals are available at the OKiep hotel down the road and across the N7.
No concerns at all. Once we were able to warm up the room, everything was fine. Given the options in the Springbok area, I would definitely return here on a future visit.
