Villa Mary Elen

I left Villa Mary Ellen yesterday and sadly, it was a huge disappointment. I am A Greek American and was bringing my 11 year-old daughter to Greece for the first time. I did my due diligence and research and settled on Villa Mary Ellen. I booked my room seven months ago and paid top dollar for it. I was happy to do so with the promise that my room was to have a spectacular view of the sea. Over the next seven months, I would periodically click on the link of the room I was promised mostly out of excitement for the trip to come. The link showing my room was a room that had the most stunning view from all angles of the sea from inside the room. When I arrived at the property, I was given a room with a view of a construction site. Nowhere from inside of the room could you see the sea. If you walk out onto the balcony, which was small and narrow, 3 feet by 7 feet (1 meter by 2.5 meter) you could partially see the sea. That is over three buildings, and parked cars in the parking lot. If you wanted an optimal view you could stand on the chairs on your balcony to see just a little better. When I questioned the owner, Themis he was very matter of fact, explained to me that because there was a partial view of the sea from the balcony that was considered Sea view Room. I found Themis to be extremely rude and condescending. In an email to me he mentioned we would talk the next day yet he never made any effort to reach out to me. Now, the major problem with the room. In general on the islands, the rooms are small and that should be expected. Because our room faced a construction site if you were to leave your drapes open, you would have 6 to 8 construction workers staring into your window. With an 11-year-old daughter or maybe your wife is that something that you would want on your holiday? Therefore, your drapes must be shut at all time thus making it feel like you are trapped in a box.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Mary Elen — the hosts were extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. The location is perfect, right by the sea with a surreal view that made every moment feel like a postcard. Pollonia is a peaceful and quiet village, ideal for relaxing. To explore the rest of Milos, we’d recommend renting an ATV or a car, as the island has so many beautiful spots worth visiting.

Wonderful accomodation in Pollonia. Great facilities, easy check in and friendly staff. Rooms were big and bed was very comfortable - we loved the view from our balcony. Would definitely recommend!
