Ocean Forest Plaza by Palmetto Vacations

Great we like everything above ocean forest we would stay there again

We loved the ocean front view, but when we booked this condo, we were told that my husband and I would be on 1st floor. I told them we needed this because my husband had a knee replacement and he does have a slight limp. He does not do well with stairs. Once we picked up our keys at the Palmetto Vacation office, our Uber driver took us to Ocean Forest Plaza. Our condo wound up being on the 16th floor! And the condo was not the one pictured in the booking! The furniture was much darker and older looking. The decor had no beach theme like the one on the pictures. We were totally disappointed. We really could not believe we were on the 16th floor after we were flat out told we would have no steps and no elevators to deal with. Then we wound up after taking our first shower, the bathtub did not drain out the water. We had the bathtub backed up with water- about 2/3rds full. We immediately called the maintenance number. It took more than 24 hours before a plumber arrived and fixed the problem. We could not shower ourselves for more than 24 hours, we had been to the beach and the pool and it was awful that we could not take a shower! And then another bad thing was the refrigerator. The door was on the wrong side! The refrigerator was in a very tight corner of the kitchen and we had to physically stand on the side of the refrigerator to open the door towards us. There was no room to open the door the correct way. We had to reach around to get things out of the refrigerator and some items were almost impossible to get to. We were really frustrated with this situation. These inconveniences made us decide that we would never return back to Ocean Forest Plaza in Myrtle Beach. When we go back to Myrtle Beach next August/ September- we will definitely be looking for new accommodations!!!!

We did not like that there was no administrative staff in our own building to talk to. We did not like that the lobby had no fresh coffee or tea in the mornings for guests.

It was a nice location away from the noise.

Where to start? It was very confusing trying to find out how to enter the parking lot, only to find my SUV wouldn’t fit in the garage. Next, it was advertised as “oceanfront”, but I personally do not consider crossing a street as “Oceanfront”! Granted, no other buildings were in front of it, I’m not a spring chicken! I was planning to go downstairs and walk straight out to the beach. We often had to wait on cars (or GOLF CARTS) to pass before we could cross, then had to walk up the street before coming to a “beach access” location. Also, there were 3 in my party and we were given 3 towels TOTAL for 4 days!! We literally had to go to Walmart to purchase towels and washcloths for our showers! Who can use the same towel for FOUR NIGHTS at the BEACH?? Not me, my husband nor our son! To top it off, we were told “NO ROOM SERVICE” because we rented through Palmetto Vacations! We were not told ahead of time that we would be staying in someone’s “home” and would not be provided things we have come to expect while on vacation. Maybe I’m expecting too much????? I truly do not think so, considering what we paid and how uncomfortable BOTH beds were! My son and husband actually had to sleep in the bed beginning night two because I couldn’t sleep in the bed, it was too thin and hurt my back! I actually slept on the “sofa” without making it into a bed, so I could have some support! There was not one staff member working at the location (at least not that we saw) other than a security guy who only works day shift. In addition to having to purchase towels and washcloths, we had to buy toilet paper, soap and shampoo. Just and FYI! Also, there were signs for “Ice Machines”, but NO ICE MACHINES were ever found! FYi: there is NO FRONT DESK!

The room was spacious for a group of 5. The building was quiet. You couldn't hear your neighbors much. It had what we needed in the kitchenette. The view from the 18th floor was amazing. Security 24/7.

No front desk, no maid service. You communicated your issues via email like it's 1990. Laundry was on the 7th floor and cost $4 a load, as if you hadn't already spent a fortune on your trip. Parking garage was tight with limited spaces. Beds were old and uncomfortable.
